Well, my 86 2m4 is bleeding pretty badly and I was just wondering if anyone here knows the size hose I will need offhand. It's one of the hoses running to the engine-bay side of the steel coolant lines that run the entire length of the car. Also, if you know about what length I will need to do both that'd be helpful too....

TIA,
Ryan

do you need rubber hose or steel tube???
steel tube is junkyard item
rubber hose is/was hard to find out off stock/production
when I needed one on a swaped in 88 v6 car I made one by useing two other hoses put togetter with a short pipe to join them.

Question wonder and be wierd

Ray, I need the Rubber hose.....I thought it was just regular hose, but I guess not. If anyone has any other input I'd love to hear it.

V8Dreamer,
The size is a 1 1/2" O.D. Tube (Steel). The hose that slips over it is a 'Fuel Grade' stranded 1 1/2" I.D. Hose. The thermostat outlet is slightly smaller and would require an additional sleeve liner inside the 1 1/2" I.D. hose to snug it over the t'stat outlet end.

I think I may have a hose laying around somewhere. LMK if you need it I can have it out to you in a day I'll forgo the shipping charge since it would probably be less than the cost of a McDonalds burgar and fries.
What side do you need?

Bill, that's a very nice offer. I'll check it tonight though and just make sure that it's not just a loose clamp or something and let you know. The hose I may need is the one that runs from the thermostat housing to the steel coolant tube on the driver's side (I believe it's one hose). I tried to take a look yesterday but with the snow, there was water dripping from everywhere and it was hard to pinpoint a problem.... I'll be sure to let you know though.

Thanks,
Ryan

Ok cool just email me if you need it Keep the coolant topped off. 2.5 heads will crack if it gets even a little low. You may want to look at the filler cap gasket. They tend to get hard and crack and it appears to be the hose.

Where is Emmaus?
Have you been to any of the "Gilbert gatherings"?

Bill,
Emmaus is right next to Allentown, if you know Rockcrawl from this forum, I'm good friends with him and live about 8 min from his place....and yes, I was at the gathering prior to the last one, I was planning on attending the last one also but couldn't due to other commitments. I've already replaced the cap just this summer when it decided to leak a little bit, so I'm pretty sure that's not it, but I'll check it anyway tonight now that the snow has all melted and I won't be getting a shower while trying to get under the car

BTW, I will be posting the Dayco part # asap for anyone in need of this hose (thermostat housing to coolant tube in driver's side rear).....I'll post it here for anyone who has the same problem I did in locating it, the parts guys didn't have a clue of how to cross-reference the part # I gave them.

For anyone that's interested.....the Dayco part # is E 71189.

The bends are a little different (middle section is about an inch longer and the lower section about a bit shorter) but it fits in just as well as the original. And it doesn't leak
