Hey Bob_in_NH, after reading this thread ,all I can do is wish you good luck in whichever kit YOU choose to use. It looks like a lot of hard complicated work. If I were to choose to do a V8 conversion on my car, I certainly would take it to the shop that sells the kit and have them do it. This way I would know that it hopefully was done right the first time around. Good Luck man, you need it.

ive met the guy from htd more then once he's a nice guy his prices don't seem too bad nor does his kit, he showed me his 85 fiero with like 300hp in a mag looked sweet everything was customized, all machined by them took them 10 years to develop some of the things so who are you people to trash him? he has all the blue print's and everything
pretty cool guy if you ask me

I would like to start off by asking how you can post pictures on this forum, so I can show the differences we have made to the Corson Kit. There are some changes that I will not dicuss due to the amount of research and development spent. I hope you all understand, we are not the only ones who produce this style of kit. (Let the other guys figure it out for themselves!)I would also like to say that Archie's post about zumwalt history is interesting.
Finally removed the "heart". It was very easy to pull. Actually much easier than pulling a front wheel drive from the top! My only concern was hanging it from my garage ceiling joists!

Hey Bob, looking good! You must be doing something right 'cause I had flashbacks the second I saw your pic hehe. Its been a while since the last time I did that. The car looks like its in real nice shape, it will be a sweet "sleeper".

Thanks! I still haven't decided on the "sleeper" part yet! Still have to dis-assemble drivetrain.
Here's my "other toy"!!!
Keeps my "happy" while I fix my Fiero!!!

Still waiting for HTD input, but I noticed there are a few people that are possibly wondering why I'm not commenting over in the thread Archie started. I'm following it but have chosen not to comment or interupt his thread, he asked that he be given the time to do so without the thread getting messed up, and I'll give him that. I'm not taking sides on this issue, I have my own ideas. I'll comment after both HTD and Archie have had their say.

I Think it was down yesterday too. I hope they really didn't decide to pack it in ! Although I pretty much have decided to do the A.R.I. 3.1 stroker kit on this Fiero. Prices are very reasonable for the return on investment.

And the 3.1/3.2 really is quite a peppy motor as well. No, I can't quite keep up with the V8's... but I'm certainly loud enough for people to wonder
a V8 is somewhere in my future... not sure exactly when... but it's there!

You have this upgrade? Did you get it from ARI ? I saw a thread here about them and checked it out. They have very reasonable prices for the services and products offered. Did you opt for the ported or unported hi-performance heads ?

Ahh, lookie what I found posted when this tread got started......
I'm not entirely sure what the whole point of that quote was myself. It is surely not the first time a server or web site has gone down and it won't be the last. Geez do you people panic like this when PFF is suddenly not available???

Hey Bob, sorry to hear that you've opted not to do the V8. You sound like you could have easily managed it yourself. I only hope this post/forum didn't play too much of a role in that decision. I'd still love to hear about the information HTD sent to you. I'll keep you posted on my progress anyway, keep one eye on the home built V8 thread for "future" consideration.....hehe

I don't actually have the ARI kit itself. When my original 2.8 died (a dark oily smokey death) at 98k miles... I used the FWD 3.1L Block from a late model (exact year unkown) Lumina Minivan. I had the heads decked/ported/polished, the cylinders bored slightly, I have a bored out TB & Intake manifold (Darrell Morse), ported exhuast manifolds & a custom free-flow exhaust system (high-flow cat, no muffler, Monza baffle tips).
The car has run awsome since the rebuild! As I mentioned above- sometime in the future a V8 is planned... but in the mean time I can draw enough looks with the exhaust note alone.
Cool , 'Cause I AM still interested in YOUR kit! I'm just not going to do it to my Formula! I can take a little advice. Thanks!! I'm already looking for a Pre '88 doner in my area. Like i stated earlier 2002 fall/winter project!

Glad to see this thread is still active. Kits aside, here's a question for you: If you were going to build a hi performance engine, would you put the heaviest flywheel on that you could find, or would you for a light weight one??? Something to consider when you're doing your conversion, because it makes one big difference in performance.

Lightest promotes spinnig higher on the top end and losing torque, stalls easier.
Heaviest, torque monster, needs higher torque starter, tougher to spin up the engine.
A rule of performance engines is that light things can accelerate faster... light pistons light rods light flywheel
if a 2.8 has enough torque to move a Fiero then always go with the lights components you can buy on the engine unless you are giving up reliablity or saftey.

Sorry I didn't mean why light. I meant lightest. Why are you asking! But that was a good response!
