there is one actuator relay for each door and one isolation relay that triggers those. the actuator relays are located near each motor and the isolation relay is located on the inside of the fender.....small square relay.
First check your taillamp fuse.....if that's ok......go to the relay with HL's on 12v on the yellow and the white wires. If so...you have a bad relay.

K, I'm pretty well having the same problem right now, my passenger side light will go down no problem, but won't go up on it's own. But if I give the manual dial just a little turn the motor will take over and run the light up. The driver side is fine, just replaced the motor 6 months ago. I was just expecting to buy another motor from a junkers and throw it in, but were there any other suggestions? Thanks,
Brandon

Ok I swapped the isolation relay off my other car.. and the actuator relays.. I took 2 with identical numbers. Now the left one goes up and down .. seems to be working properly but the one on the right only goes down... I jumpered it across.. positive on the green and negative on the grey the headlight goes up... so i know everything up til there is fine... points to a bad relay ... yet.. If i switch them i have the same result... ???? !!!! Help HybridFiero Phil M

Ok... checked the fusable links.. there fine.. i have power on both sides.. but .. on my passenger side actuator connector i have power on 2 wires .... should i?? Or should i only have one hot wire when the actuator relay is disconnected,..?

Now /... realizing somone has been frigin around with the wireing for my headlights i may have a problem... The red wire coming out of the firewall is the battery wire i'm guessing ... since its large and hot. Somone has put fusible links in there ... not sure maybe its factory but it looks really crude... The red wire is then branched off into 2 wires,,, is this correct?? it must be to run power to both headight motors i'm guessing...??

Ok... Took both fusable links out and put straight wire in.. eliminating that possibility ... Now the passenger side headlight still only goes down and not up!!! I'm confused!! Erks me ... i can't drive with my headlights down unless i wind them down manually.. help HybridFiero Phil M

FYI, I bought a new isolator relay just the other day - still available from Pontiac for the "bargain price" of $38. I understand however, that you can use other more common less expensive relays - I just don't know which of them.
On my 88GT I have to press in on the headlight switch to get them to go down. I I consider it a feature even though the switch is broke; once they are up at night I just leave them up.

Same here! I love that, personally! Comes in handy at car washes and stuff. I wouldn't fix it.
