Just installed my new KYB shocks in the front of my 88" GT. But I ran into an interesting problem. The KYB shocks that I recieved from The Fiero Store were about 1.5" longer than the original shocks. This caused the rebound of the suspension to increase also. Infact, instead of the shock acting as the rebound "stop", now the rebound is being stopped by the upper control arm contacting the shock tower. This was the stae of the suspension when I installed the shocks and I actually had to compress the shock to get the bottom bolts started. Is this an o.k. situation? Do you think The Fiero Store could have sent the wrong KYB part #? I'm also worried that the additional 1.5" of shock length may change the jounce travel available too (i.e. shock will bottom out before jounce bumpers).

Your first mistake was buying anything from the FieroStore...

But on to your question, I've got GR-2 shocks on the front of my '88 and don't have the problem you are experiencing. Maybe FieroStore picked up a deal on a batch of botched shocks...I wouldn't put it past them. Maybe KYB made a mistake? Maybe its just the wrong part. Should be part number 343127. Not sure if it will be stamped on the chock body or not.

BTW: You can pick up GR2 shocks just about anywhere for $32/pair.

Yeah, but the KYB'S are gas pressurized and will entend when opened fully. I had to push mine back up to get them on too.
