Just looking to get some opinions as far as which one is better, the Delco coil packs, or the Accel coil packs. whats better quality, does it really make that much of a difference, etc... I need to replace mine [One burnt up, the other cracked, see earlier post. . .still trying to figger out why] and there is only a 5 dollar price difference between the two. So, opinion time, i want to hear everybody.

my accel coils lasted about 30,000 miles. then the car started missing and backfiring on hard acceleration.

swapped in the old factory coils (which were just fine, i replaced them to get "better performance" and "better mpg") and all is well.

i chucked the accel coils in the trash.

I think the j-body guys (cavaliers I think?) have also had bad luck with the accel DIS coils.

MSD now makes DIS coils, maybe they are worth a try.

I too run MSD. It sounds like youa re talking about an 87 DIS so I dont know if MSD makes coil packs for them. But on my V6 I use a full MSD 6AL ignition and love it.

Ive got the Accel replacement on Ferraro. Its been fine for 100,000 miles with no problem at all.

I put a Accel billet distributor in Raptor with an HEI Accel supercoil.

Thanks, Nick, Ive put a lot of work into it since i bought it in Sept. 2002, only got it on the road in Dec. It was a HUGH mess, [engine had codes, burned a little oil, clutch was shot, tires gone, etc.] But, i am slowly nursing her back to good health, and it is lookin better everyday.

You got lucky. I have had terrible performance and life with the Accel e-coils that I've installed on my Fieros. Haven't had one yet that would last and there are too many horror stories around with them for me to consider this brand ever again. I've used MSD coils since with no problems what so ever

I'd heard lots of bad things about the Accell, so I got the Holley LaserShot PN# 820-114. I had to reaplce my plug wires too. The coil's been on my engine for 3 years now with NO problems.
