Well we finally got Twig's Car running and on the road. It runs pretty good but we have yet to have a chance to really get on it. It doesn't yet have 500 miles on it so we are still breaking it in. It has some good power and really jumps at 2500 rpm. It does ping a little so we may need octane boost. The parts we used are listed below.

86 Fiero head.
8? T-block(don't know what it's out of it came in my one 86 Fiero)
88 crank
Badger pistons part# P483-030 these are flat top pistons at .030
Compression ratio of 10.1 to 1
Sealed power rings part#E-381X30
Don't remember about the rods
Melling oil pump part#M-62CHV
Fel-Pro head bolt set ES72733
Comp Cams cam part#52-000-5 260 average duration, 50 duration 212, lift is 490
Comp Cams springs part#988-8
Comp Cams liters part#864-8
Comp Cams steel retainers #743-8
Comp Cams lock Part#601-8
I also used a Coyles alloy gear set but don't have the number now.
Fel-pro valve cover gasket set part# VS 50179 T
Crane Cams BBC 1.7 ratio 7/16 stud roller rockers part# CRN-13744-16
SD-4 valve cover
Stock intake for now but an Edelbrock TBI intake will be added later
Celebrity cast iron exhaust manifold. We have been using a JR header but it keeps cracking.
custom exhaust with twin SuperTrapps part# SUP-443-2010

let me know if anyone has any questions

The cast iron manifolds are more durable and can be ported all you want without worrying about cracking. So the potential for better flow is there. We were planning on using the JR header but the damn things keep cracking. These WON'T CRACK!!!

Sounds like a rather nice combo of parts on that four banger. Didn't see you at Carlisle this year. Hope that you can bring the car to the PA Dutch Classic for all to see. It's hardly ever that you see a worked Duke engine at the shows. Hope that it runs well and lot's of luck with it.

Yea Dennis we had a few problems with both cars not to mention a killer migraine. We will be at the GM show this weekend. Hopefully we can get the IMSA back on the road too.

I'm no sure what vehicles used the T block. I bought an 86 coupe that someone had put a full GT body on. My wife let a guy she worked with borrow the car because we thought he was a nice guy. Well he wasn't. He went drinkig and driving and drove it off the road and totalled it. We salvaged what we could and the T-block engine was one of those things. It also had the 88 crank in it which was very odd because it was neither a DIS engine and didn't have what ever i driven by the big gear in the center of the crank. The T block looked better than an R or U block but not as good as a truck block. So the T doesn't stand for truck. BTW the Ass ever paid us back in ANY way.

UPDATE

Well we took her car to Carlisle this weekend and the car ran great. Got 30mpg to boot. Very smooth and just cruises on the highway. The power really comes on at 2500rpm. I really think this car could give a V-6 a run for it's money, but that will have to wait until after she is broken in. About 2100 miles from now.
