I think the Flowmaster 80 series I have on my 3800SC is going to get me pulled over too much. It's LOUD and boomy.

What other mufflers have people run that they're happy with? I'd like something that lets me run dual exhaust like the 80 series, but isn't as loud. 2.5" inlet is required.

How much would resonator tips help to quiet it down?

Thanks.

Your comment about the Flowmaster is blasphemy around here and I complete agree with you. Way loud.

Spintech is very good choice. It sounds great and is still subtle.

Doesn't Flowmaster have multiple plates that bolt on to the back of the exhaust tips. The more tips, the quieter the car.

Me, I have Borla systems on my Fieros, just mellow, although seems loud when cruising at 2300 rpm. Plus made with SS, so should last a long time.

I'm running a DynaMax Camero muffler, crossflow, single in, dual out on my Northstar. Replaced a Flowmaster. Flowmaster had a very low WAF. DynaMax is much better.

Nope, you're thinking of Supertrapps. The trapps are "tunable mufflers" that you add or delete baffle plates from to "tune" the exhaust to your taste and performance needs.

Thanks for the tips! The Spintek sounds like best solution.

Steve (mize) listened to and drove my car last night and commented, "I've heard Harley's that are quieter". Not good.

I got an 80 series flowmaster on my GT and it sounds great! Nice deep and real throaty! It is loud but in a good way! Still quiter than a rice burner 4 cyl. the kids are driving around town.

I have the Flowmaster Series 80 too. It is only loud if you are really on it. Perhaps you installed yours backwards so instead of quieting the exhaust it is making it louder.

I gave my Flowmaster 80 to another memebr of the club. He put it on his 4, and now a 2.8. It sounds fine on those two engines. Deep, throaty, but nice. On the N* it was so loud it backfired when backing down. And like I said it had a very low WAF.

I will say this. Changing to the DynaMax made a difference I could FEEL. It slowed the car down just a small bit. Slower reving, too. And I don't think it's just the sound.

Are you running the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler?

I'm considering that one, part number 17739. Specs and pictures here: http://www.dynomax.com/documents/super_turbo_specs.pdf

Flowmaster 40!
If you're going to buy the spintek, pay another 20 bucks or so and get the flowmaster 40. I don't think it's too loud, in fact I wouldn't mind a little louder personally.
The 40 is supposed to be quieter than the 80 anyways isn't it?

The serier 80 is the loudest. Unfortunately that is the only way they produce the single in dual crossflow out, at least according to the web site. The DynaMax is an agressive muffler also, but more like a series 50, but I wish it had less interior noise. Installing a cat didn't help. When I replace the engine soon, the cat goes in favor of a resonator or something else in front of the muffler. Looking for suggestions.

I have the 40 series, modified by WCF to fit the Fiero. It sounds great: aggressive but not obnoxious. It's a direct fit, so installation cost should be the same as any other stock installation.

Anyone have an experience with Magnaflow mufflers? How do they compare to Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers (quieter, more power, etc)?
