Ok, I am trying to replace the headliner in my 88 GT. I cant figure out how to remove the plastic trim on each side of the headliner. I broke the one on the passenger side and I dont want to break the other. It has metal clips the trim slides in but I could not get to them to remove them. Thanks.

Yeah they can be a bear--Just redid my headliner in my 87 GT and I also broke a clip or two. Get a product called plastic weld ( 2 tube syringe thing that you mix and use) I think Devcon makes it. Just glue them back on where they go and put back together after it hardens. Worked like a champ for me, even when I pounded them back in with my hand. Good luck!

I used a small screwdriver working from the outside and pried the metal clip open enough to release the plastic trim.

I was able to pull down on the trim piece just enough to snag the clip with the screwdriver.

Mine was so bad I just yanked the headliner out without taking those plastic things off. Needless to say the headliner broke in half.

I just carefully pry it too, but still usually break some of the clips. I just put a countersunk trim screw in the corner now. You dont notice them, and its ez to remove anytime for wiring or whatever. One screw right where it curves from up to back ill be enough, the qtr trim and dash hold the ends.
