I honestly don't know how hot the calipers get. But the rotors can get red hot and cause some major burns (trust me... I learned the hard way! ) I would assume that they don't get as hot as the rotors, where they're made of different material (aluminum?) to disperse heat. But they can get hot enough to burn. Temperature wise, I don't know

I think it depends on how you are on brakes. Im pretty ez, myself and plain old Krylon spray paint stays on them fine for me for years.

I dont know how hot. But I've had the rotors hot enough that smoke starts coming out of the wheel wells.

When that happens the wheels are pretty hot. I'm sure the calipers are hotter.

I painted my calipers in high temp brake paint (red) when I got my car. They are kind of dark redish color now. I tried cleaning them but that didnt help.

Im kind of pissed, probably gonna repaint them in black sometime.

350-600F is the normal range for the rotors but you can certainly get over 1000F if you really wail on them from a high speed stop or ride them down Deadman's Grade (mine was Tollhouse Road ).

I would expect the calipers to be 200F below that so, try to get something that will survive 500-700F and it's unlikely you will burn it off. It's more likely to flake off first anyway since they are aluminum.

Some acetone and self-etching prime (that can handle the temps) should really help the paint stick.

I have etching wheel cleaner, could i clean the calipers with that crap and then paint on some regular primer or what?
