I hope you are able to regain your energy for this as I have enjoyed reading the history and the V8 installation/enginnering lesson. I hardly have the time to check my E-mail (which I do once every week or two) but I just spent the last hour reading through your very informative thread.
I always thought that moving the engine to the left was not a good idea as the right axel was quite long as stock. This created what I thought was some unique handling under full throttle when turning left. Also known to front drivers torque steer.
this is just plain silly. a thread started almost a yr and a half ago and we still have not heard the rest of the story....silly,silly,silly. but anyways archie i hope you feel better and if you read this before i talk to you tomorow i need the early style flex plate.

Just adding my very limited experience with Gary Zumalt. I installed a 305 TPI on the stock auto trany in my 88 a few years ago. I must say, Gary Zumalt is the biggest JERK I have ever delt with. I bought my kit through Dan Campbell from PISA. He did everything he could to help, (Thanks Dan!). So with that said, I also must say the kit was very well built and I had no problem with moving the eng/trans over about 2.5 inches. At the time, I thought it more important to run a normal water pump set-up. I sold the car, a few years ago, to a friend of mine and I'm trying to get it back now. If I ever do another V-8, It would be with Archie's kit. He has stood the test of time! THANKS ARCHIE!! Kevin

BTW what happened to west coast fieros forum. Someone tell me I heard nothing it just closed.???
Why is it that when I ask what happened to Planet Fiero everyone ignores the question as though I had said nothing. I just want someone to answer me please. I have asked the question before, does no one know. I have even PM and email WCF about it. Still no answer.

WOW - actually amazed that someone remembered my feable attempts at a tech/engine swap orientated forum for the Fiero. It essentially went away as the bandwidth was getting too high and there was essentially no planned return into that investment, more like an experiment - though it turned out better than could have been expected.
At this time I do not plan on starting another one as there are all ready several different Fiero forums out there, let alone the 23+ yahoo mailing lists, and the pure fact that I am no longer at WCF, just simply lurking on the forum every now and then

Well, in just a few days it will have been 2 years since I left off in the story being told.
You will recall that I had asked that it stay flame free. If you go back to page 3 you'll see that a few X-PFFer's tried to make it into a flame war. I suspended telling the story when that happens.
The flamers have kept you waiting for 2 years for more of the story. I had written the last installment of the story but the flamers made me give up on posting it at that time.
While we were waiting, we got some very good information from Lenny, the Kid & others. We haven't heard anything from HTD & the others & some guy up in Canada has copied my parts and claimed the design as his own.
So I'll boot up my old PC & see if I can find that old WPerfect document. I'll edit it as necessary and, if the flamers are done, I'll get it up here in time for the 2nd anniversary. However, if the flamers would like to get it fired up again, I can wait another 2 years to complete this.
YES!!!! I can't wait to hear the rest, i knew it was on hold due to the "flame war" that was starting. nothin better start again. i don't know how everyone else waited 2 years. it has been 4 days and i just need to know. ------------------

YES!!!! I can't wait to hear the rest, i knew it was on hold due to the "flame war" that was starting. nothin better start again. i don't know how everyone else waited 2 years. it has been 4 days and i just need to know. who's the peeps in canada he is talking about? is it that kfg-ssb group thats in british columbia? if not, who's kit did they copy if they copied one?
When I turned 18 my first big purchase on credit was a previously built V8 Fiero for $4500. It was based on a copy of the Zumalt kit. I had talked to Archie on the phone about what he recomended. At the time I thought he was just bashing the compitition, and was just trying to sell me parts. I wish I would have listened because this thing was a money pit!!! It was the Isuzu manual trans, and was on the road a total of 3 days in the 2 years I owned it. On the third day of it being on the road, I managed to shatter the trans (not suprising for an 18 yr old male). Second gear was gone. So I dropped the cradle, and pulled it all apart. I replaced the transmission with another Isuzu (wish I had known of Rodney Dickman at the time ) Knowing that this car had a history of clutch problems, I decided to replace the clutch, and have the flywheel re-surfaced. Let me tell you how much fun that was getting the f/w off. So after about 3 broken drill bits (wish I would have thought of welding nuts to the head of the bolt) I finally got it off. I had everthing re-done, and assembled it all back together. In the process of doing this, I replaced the cast iron exhaust manifolds with a nice set of Sanderson 90 degree headers. So to make a long story short, after toasting another clutch, I ended up selling the car. So whats the moral of this story you ask? LISTEN TO ARCHIE!! HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. Wish I would have.
Now heres an actual question for Archie or anyone else who knows. On the Canadians copiers web site, ^^^^ it say that you can use a set of block hugger headers for the conversion. Is the true? From my experience, a standard block hugger will dump the exhaust onto the right axle making it almost impossible to put an exhaust system on the car.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot BUMP!!! (I want to hear the end too)

Just out of curiosity, I got a story from 6-7 different people in Niles, MI (where I used to live) that this guy in Niles named Archie dropped a V8 in a Fiero. Are you from Niles or are these people just adopting you.
