interesting site. But It doesnt look like he uses some of archies parts for the front of the motor. If you notice the alternator bracket. Its not bolted to the head. Its lower allowing room for the Block hugger headers. But he will loose his AC. Also, it doesnt look like he uses archies Water pump drive, he's using what looks like a Mandrel drive setup. That could be why he didn't use archies Harmonic balancer pulley. His pulley looks like its goin to stick out from the motor more. Here's a pic.

He doesn't use any of Archie's parts. He used the Fyrnon-8 kit that pops up on eBay from time to time.

This is the first day I read this post. What a small world. I was at Z's one car garage house right around 89 or 90. He had a big block 454 in a red notchie. He was trying to sell me and a friend a kit. Good thing I was young and poor. By the way, if I remember correctly, he was gong to give us a ride but could not drive it due to tranny problems. Smooth talker

I have been reading this thread from the start and even though I do not have the expertise to fully understand the comments by some, my brother is the owner of the purple motor with the FRYRON-8 adapter installation above. He has also had conversations with Archie and the Zumwalt guy and went with the FYRNON-8 installation because he is addicted to eBay and bought the kit from Jerry, the owner of FYRNON-8. The engine pictured has been running around Washington State now for over a year, quietly putting many ricers and mustangs to shame. Read his site for some other stories that he has posted at www.V8-Fiero.com Ues, I am the girl in the pictures of his sister's cars.... I currently drive his yellow demon with this purple engine for fun but also own a 87 GT with an Archie kit and a 350 Chevy/auto. My brother, V8-Fiero (Andy) will probably be commenting on this thread as soon as he returns from Iraq, (he isn't a kid, at 55 he just acts like a kid, but is a pretty good mechanic) it seems he has much to say about the various V8 kits out there. His motor with the block huggers had lots of problems fitting the exhaust initially, but since he built it himself he forgot to worry about it, he just made it work.

I hope Archie is feeling better, I remember meeting him at a car show a few years back. He is a great guy.
