Just like the other 2000 viewers think, this is awesome! Is it done? Can you post (at least) one pic with it finished?

I just wanted to say thank you, for being such a nice guy, my brother and I met you this past Sat in Daytona and we both agree that you did an excelent job on the interior you finish product was really first class.

To the ones who are considering this swap, I was concern that maybe the dash would not line up w/ the steering wheel or that the steering wheel would block part of the dash, well the way Roy did it, the steering wheel does not block the instrument cluster at all and it looks GREAT.

Sincerely

Lincoln

Got to see your ride in person @ the Daytona show. Looks even better in person!

Plus getting a big thumbs up from Archie, bonus....

Please post where you were going to have the info on the web again, you told me but since I did not write it down I forgot by the time I got home.

I know the site is still a work in progress, but we all would like to know where to look in the future.

THANKS!

John

Sorry for the delay in my response. I've been very busy latly getting my car ready for the Daytona show and I haven't spent much time on the forum. Anyway, you can see a couple of shots of the interior here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/027327-2.html
Just down from the top of the page. Thanks to Spyder (who didn't bother to introduce himself.. shame on him) for posting them.

Thanks for all the nice complements from those who stopped by the car in Daytona. I will hopefully get back to the web page documentation soon. The page will be posted on www.Fierolinks.com when ready.

Thanks,
Roy

Man, I wish. I haven't totally ruled it out, yet though. I'd really like to see all the "Official" Pontiac display vehicles. But, while my interior is new, my motor is tired... about 144,000 miles worth. We'll have to wait and see.

Great job! I was wondering if you would ever do a kit or an in depth tutorial/video? I am REALLY interested in doing that. Even if you copy the firebird interior to fiero base bridge fiberglass piece?

Is it possible to do this without removing the windshield?

Do you mean the dash filler?

Probably. Most of the real work, the filling and sanding, I did while the filler pice layed on a couple of sawhorses. The biggest thing is attaching the piece from the Fiero dash to the metal lip at the base of the windshield. I drove the screws straight down. It would be tight but you could drive the screws diagionally.

Well, to tell you the truth, I haven't even opened the file since before Daytona. I had worked on car so hard to get it ready for the show that, once the show had passed, I felt like I needed a break. I'll try and get back to in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the kick-in-the-pants,
Roy

I just when through all the treads that help discribe the installation process and I guess I didn't post any pictures of the steering column bracket that I made tha allows me to re-bolt the steering column. However, PBJ has a couple of shots of how he made his and mine is simular. All that info will be included on my website. I the meantime, here's a link to the thread where PBJ builds his:

Hey Roy, that looks sweet!!! Hook me up! You seriously need to make a video or at least written instructions on how to do this. What kind of material did you use for the cover on the ECM? Did you fabricate this yourself? Do you have to modify the fiero much to take it or just modify the firebird stuff? If it is the latter, I imagine you could make a killing selling them...

Thanks Steve. I still haven't quite figured out the ratings thing but I do appreciate your vote.

It's the computer cover / console filler. Since I used the console from the firebird I needed to make a cover for the area formally concealed by the fiero glove box. I also needed to fill the gap under and behind the Firebird console. The piece is made from fiberglass. I made a mockup out of styrofoam and covered it with masking tape to keep it from reacting with the resin. I then covered it with a couple layers of fiberglass. When cured and released from the mockup, I used Bondo to smooth it out then just used K2 primer and base coat - clear coat to finish it off.

All the above is being detailed in the web site -- which, by the way, I started working on again yesterday. My goal is to have my documentation and pictures completed and to my web master by May 7th.

Sorry guys... poo poo on me. I was doing pretty good on it before I started my garage expansion, then the 20th anniversary show came up and I've been working on making the car 2400 mile road worthy. I'll try to wrap it up once the show is over.

Thanks for the interest,

I am waiting for the last installment as well, as I am about to get started on installing a 4th gen firebird dash in my 88 Fiero. I have most of the parts accumulated....so, while I will take a lot of pictures as I do my install, I think the work on these two installs and the documentation is great !!! Wish me luck

rkisling,

Welcome to the forum...

We are all waiting for the final answer.

What year dash & gauges are you using for your conversion?

PICTURES are worth a thousand words. We love them!

Any wiring details you encounter (thought they are coverd well in bothe previous installs) would be great.

Lastly....

Good luck.

I was reading through all the forum comments and it seemed like we were waiting for the web site. Does anyone know of it?

Mr Fixit58 has not had time to put up a website. However, I have one up that is substantially complete that documents my interior installation. (see sig). Most of the info on MrFixit's install is in the thread:

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/023174.html

Good luck.
