If you don't mind me adding to this question; has anyone tried using a 225/45/16 on the front and a 225/50/16 on the back? I'm looking at getting 16's as well but i've noticed that Fieros tend to look better with a taller tire on the back and shorter on the front because of the wheelwell design, so i'd like to use different tire hights on each end but i'm not sure how it will work or if the 45 might be to low for everyday driving. If not then any suggstions on tire sizes for 16's would be appreciated. I hope i'm not taking over this thread with this question as i don't mean to. I would have posted my own thread but the subject is pretty much the same so i asked it here. No offense meant.

These are 16 X 7.5 rims with 215X50 Front and 245X50 Rear. Car is lowered front and rear 1 1/2".
Cali, would it be possible to see a better pic of your front tires and wheels? That size might work for me only with 225's on the back. I wouldn't need as much rubber as you on the back for obvious reasons. lol Any bottoming out problems or rim damage from pot holes on the front?

Dave- I'm not sure that you can even get a 225-45-16. I have never seen one. Yokohama does have a 245-45-16 in their AVS Sport line. I'm pondering those after I wear my current ones out.
Thanks Cali, that looks plenty tall enough. If you've made it around Detroit without damage then there's no way i'll have any trouble. lol I thought our roads were rough here but after driving to the 20th i see we're not alone in that problem.
Mechanic; i saw a set in 225/45/16's on Tire Racks website. I believe they were Kumos but i don't remember for sure. The 215/50's would work for me though. They're plenty tall enough, judging by calis pics, and they will still keep the taller tire in the back look like they have from the factory. It just seems to me that when you put the same size all the way around on a Fiero that it looks like it's sitting higher in the front for some reason. Maybe it's just me but that's why i want to use a set up like that. 215/50/16's front and 225/50/16's back. Thanks again Calikid.

i have two pre 88's with 16x7.5's. both have 225/50-16 in front and 235/50-16 on one and 255/50-16 on the other for rear tires (the 255's need coilovers).
also some 205/50-16's on 16x7's but i never mounted them on a car. and some 205/55-16's on 16x6 cavalier rims, but i just use them sort of like spares.

Just to let you know, the 225X50 on the front of my car rubbed the wheel house liner a little bit at the 12 o'clock position near the fender lip. The 215X50 replacement took car of that issue (remember the car is dropped 1 1/2")
I too am running 225/50 16's on all 4 corners of my '86 GT. I have no rubbing problems when the front wheels are at full crank. I am running 16x7 rims.
