AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!I do believe you have just answered my problem in my thread"engine sputters, ses light comes on"!!!!!! I poured a whole bottle of injector cleaner into about 4.5 gallons of 98 unleaded, and that was, on thinking back, when the problem started!!! It is doing it far less now, I have refilled twice since,
and today it never did it at all....have I escaped with no damage? My car is running normally 99% of the time, and getting better every day..

Another thing you have to be careful about is ruining your piston rings. Adding too much injector cleaner ends up stripping the oil off the cylinder walls, causing more friction and wear on the piston rings. I know in motorcylces you have to be careful how much you add to your gas for this reason. Dont know if it applies to cars, but it makes sense.

Iso-Heat works wonders on water. I am glad to know enginer restore works...I will ahve to pick some up for my cars.

In search of a Fiero for sale. Prefferably an '85 GT or an '88 GT with grey interior and manual tranny. Nothing restored...something I can work on and make it the way I want! Ahhh I can dream I guess!

Whats the deal on Marvel Mystery Oil? It says it can be added to the oil, in which case it works like engine restorer, or to the gas. When added to the gas, is it like another injector cleaner, or is it another kind of restorer? I don't want to use any in the gas if its another injector cleaner, but I'm really not sure.

RESTORE is awsome. I got it in both my Fieros, the 4 banger which has 90,000 miles and the GT which has 144,000 miles. Engine runs a little smoother and nicer. Never heard a negative about it ever

for the injector cleaner issue, did you ever think that maybe it IS working and its cleaning out all the gunk and carbon build-up of you fuel lines and injectors and everything so you enegine burns it up and pushes it out which would cause for a loss of power until its all done and getting clean gas again

Yea alot of fuel injector cleaner can destroy the seals on your injectors it appears too. We have an 87 jeep and my sister was consistantly putting injector cleaner in it because it was sputtering and kinda hopping. But instead of helping, it destroyed the seals around the injectors and fuel started leaking around them. I'm thinking about running some injector cleaner in my car seeing as it sat for about 4 years.. but not too much.

i use fuel injector cleaner about every 8 0r 10 tanks of gas if i remember. i use the super ultra mega concentrate that STP uses and i put it in when im almost out of gas and im on my way to the gas station so that it gets everything REALLY clean then it dillutes it like its supposed too. the thing about it eating injectors would take FOREVER because we use fuel injector cleaner in my dads 83 trans am with crossfire injection (two HUGE injectors) atleast once a month and we have done this for 5-6 years now and we haven zero problems.

Since Mystery Oil is a oil so I don't think you have to be concerned about it inhibiting the lubrication process.

I'm more concerned about more injector cleaner (if thats what it is when its in the gas) damaging the injectors since I just used a whole bottle of injector cleaner.

Warning to all on my duke, i had a habbit of using dry gas (isopropyl alchyhol SP?) anyways in too concentrated a form eg 1 whole bottle per 9 gal dented tank, the car would run like crap. the problem is the 02 sensor, the emissions fubar the readings and your car dosent know what to do, the problem would subside some times, other times (4) i had to replace the 02 sensor.

A good way to keep the fuel system clean is to mix 10-25% Xylene to premium pump unleaded. This is available at paint supply houses and is one of the main ingrediants used in regular pump gas to increase it's octane. Not only will this mix give a serious boost in octane (100 octane when used 25%), it is safe for the fuel system and is an exceptional cleaner. Do this once every 3000 miles. For those running blowers or turbos, it's a great home brew race gas.
