I've been doing a tune-up on the 2.8L and I'm looking to replace the pickup-coil, ignition coil and module.

Looking through the archives, I've read a lot of complaints about Accel and some about MSD. Seems most people recommend staying with GM products.

I've seen the brand Wells at Autozone and didn't read much about them in the archives, are they any good?

Wells seems to be alright for sensors. I have a Wells coil for the 2.8l for about a year and it seems like it has already crapped out. Need to mount it back up to the car so I can check the grounding circuit (primary and secondary are fine) to confirm the coil is bad. I recently bought new plugs/connectors for the ign. module-to-coil, so I know I'm getting a good connection, but I'm just not getting any spark. If it is the coil, I'd avoid Wells like the plague.

WELLS is decent at best. The reason I(and many others) buy them, is they are cheap, and lifetime warranty.

Thanks for your personal experiences with Wells. So is it worth the extra $10 to go with AC Delco or about $30 more from the dealership? I got the Wells distributor cap & rotor and thought about using Wells with everything else.

i don't spend the extra(wells is all i have on 2.8 and last year i did ALL OF THEM THAT I COULD AFFORD about 90% of them to help my MPG) because auto zone gives you a lifetime warrenty for free on alot of there parts.but i guess it up to you on how much money you have and WHAT YOU TO SPEND.

I worked for Auto Zone during the summer last year while I was out of class, and I worked for Schucks ( Kraggen in all other places ) while I was stationed in AK, and I can say that there is no warranty for electrical parts.

Once they are installed, they are yours

I know that AZ sells Wells only, and there are a lot of happy customers that say that there is little difference between Wells and others that they have purchased from the dealer or what not.

I've had good luck with Wells & Autozone suppliers in general. sofar, Accel coils, Pro-Start starters (Pep Boys), Fram Filters & Champion Plugs are the only things on my "do not buy" list

Wells are general replacement parts that I use for basic servicing unless the customer request genuine parts, occasionally you will get a dud just like AC Delco but they ok for regular servicealso electrical parts are not under warranty once you buy them you are on your own.
