The above pic shows a drivers side door panel and the Aero molding that goes with it.

When I got the car the molding was not attached, as I'm a Coupe man and this is the first time I've messed with the Aero stuff I have a question:

I think the bottom of the molding attaches with those plastic pop rivets,(holes circled in black), but what type of clip attaches the top of the molding to the door panel, (holes circled in green)?

If possible could someone post pics of the two fasteners for me?

Thanks in advance, HoHo

Actually there is a piece of metal that mounts to the door skin that the slot in the upper gfx wlides over. If you need a pic, let me know and I shall take a pic for to look at tomorrow. Unless someone has one ready to post.

A view of the inside of the door panel.

A little bit closer view of the inside of the door panel.

And finally a really close view of the inside of the door panel showing one upper and one lower rivet. #1 being an upper and #2 being a lower.

#1 has a small “spread” (the three sides that collapse when the rivet is drawn tight)

#2 has a larger “spread”

NEXT!

And finally the mystery rail…
Here is the rail still attached to the molding.

Here is the rail setting in front of the molding.

Here’s my hand under the rail, touching the folded edge of the molding on the back side

Here’s my hand touching the folded edge of the molding on the back side without the rail in place

Notice how the dust marks on the rail match the square holes in the molding…

THE END

Apparently,
First you have to pop rivet the rail on to the door skin.
Then the molding slides downwards on to it like putting on an inner door skin.

Once the molding is in place you finish pop riveting it to the bottom edge of the door.
