If you go with a decent cam, Port the heads, and a good flowing aftermarket intake, You should be able to get to 200hp. I've seen a few carb'd 4.3L in the 230-250 range with increased compression, street/strip cam, tuned carb, ported heads and a good exhaust. With a mild cam and a decent carb, Figure about a 20hp increase (170hp)

Sounds like the mild cam and carb are there for the count. The next item should be the longest equal length tubing headers that are affordable, no bigger than one and five eights diameter. Mild cams don't get along with short fat headers very well. Headersbyed.com gives tech about it.

Do you have the .050 lift and duration? lobe center angles would be nice also. This will really help the guessing.

Local guys tell me the switch is good for 20% increase.

My little 2.8 with MSD Blaster ignition, ported exhaust ports and manifolds, and 2.5" exhaust now has an Edelbrock intake under a Holley 2 barrel.

I don't know about the HP figures, but the seat of the pants meter is showing a real kick. The torque is really impressive.

I don't know about the 4.3 stock exhaust. I do know that the carb with a good intake will flow 500-650 cfm easy. That is good for alot of hp.

I think the 180 is very do-able without opening up your engine, provided you do your homework on the exhaust and intake.

Add a cam, and port as Oreif pointed out, and you should hit 200.

The real story, I think, will be the torque change.

By the way, the carb guys on the forum have been a huge help to me.

My hat is off to Oreif, Master Tuner, and the others who helped show me the way.

How big a cam? There is a big dif between an RV cam and a hot street cam.

Here is a link to a supposed 250HP 4.3

Hmmm. The 4.3 has some history

Pre 86 is odd fire, some engines have roller lifters, some engines have roller lifters and balance shaft.

Newer versions are 190HP stock.

Is there a good source of info on these engines? Can different heads be combined with different pistons, cam, dist etc?

200+HP does not look like a stretch from what I am reading.

Enlightment will be appreciated!

The man who is helping me with my headers built a set for a 4.3 in Grayson county, TX. I have not seen this fiero (I don't think). I have not seen any posts concerning this Fiero.

Hey north Texas fiero guy with the 4.3 and the headers from Galon please speak up!

According to Dyno2000 you shouldn't have too much problem:

This is without mufflers, but they didn't affect it much, maybe 15HP. Even without porting and with mufflers it showed around 240HP.
