Can base coat/clear coat paints, how hot can they handle. Will it be able to handle the temp of an intake manfold or valve covers? What about the block?
TIA.
edit: I can't get the stock yellow mixed in enamal. Already tried that route.

Sure can use basecoat/clearcoat. Try Sherwin Williams automotive paint. I can get any basecoat color in single stage acrylic enamel except for the stuff like high pearls.

I use base/clear. I was worried about the heat issue but then read an article about how hot the metal of a black car will reach in the hot sun. It exceeded the temperatures under the hood.

Brake caliper paint might work really well. I use Motip brake caliper paint and it sticks to anything and it is quite heat resistant. There are also some high temp paints available but they usually only come in silver or black.

I just talked about this very subject with a friend who builds street rods. He does it all the time, painting the engine and trans the same color as the car. His son is a professional auto painter and its all he uses on engines. He says it holds up at least as well as engine paint.
