I have seen some 2 piece tail light setups for the Fieros are they factory or aftermarket? the sides are clear and the middle is black and says Pontiac but the pontiac is split in 2 half on each tail light my 87 GT came with a 3 piece setup that I dont like and was wondering about the others they look good anyone know?

thanks for the info is there a way to remove the coloring from those tail lights so you can put in clear bulbs? I have an 87 GT and it has the 3 piece tail lights so I guess I will go to the mall here and ask around about some tail lights

When you pop out the light fixture, the stock bulbs are clear. The lenses are colored. Unless the black is delaminating, I'd leave them alone. If you screw them up, replacement stock lenses are hard to find and are VERY expensive.

yeah... the last set i saw for sale on ebay sold for over 1200 bucks... how did you get those red circles to appear in your tail lights??? a specail bulb or something???
I've been thinking of taking my delaminated gt tail lights and retrofitting them for the corvette tail lights. Seems like quite a bit of work - but do-able.. Would rather make em myself then buying new fiberglass assemblies. Of course, I might never get round to it!

since my local pontiac dealers no longer offer to support this car i've been wondering if it'd be possible to change that pontiac in the rear light to a simple fiero or fiero gt
The PONTIAC is actually molded into the black plastic... not something easily changed - if at all possible (although if you had a notchie, there are things you can do there).
Crow - do you have any other details about how you made the plastic backer? After seeing yours I'm thinking I may be doing it "the hard way" (which isn't out of the ordinary for me ).
I made a cardboard template which fit tightly inside the lens. I cut 4-1/2" holes where the lights go. After a few tries, I got it like I wanted it and traced the cardboard template onto a plastic "FOR SALE BY OWNER" sign. After cutting the outside with a scissors, I cut the light holes with a rotozip tool. Next I painted the sign material with black rattle can paint, installed the lights and put the lights in the lens. Finally, I hacked the rear of the housings, taking care to leave the mounting flanges. It was almost too easy.

why don't you just get a reverse copy of what you want made with a vynl cutter with black vynl?? Then stick it to the inside of a lens that have the original black part removed..
I think fking might be talking about the colored lens mask inside the taillight as being his "third piece". That part CAN be removed, leaving just the clear lens and the reflector base. You can then use colored bulbs or LED's, but I don't think it would look very good. I COULD be wrong, though...I have been in the past..
