Just a quick question... what do you guys who have repinned wire harnesses use to extract the old pins out?

The flip side is do they just snap back in place on the new connector then? Thanks in advance.

Depends on the connector. Weather Pak use a hollow steel tube that compresses the locking tangs, there are dirrerent ones for Metric Pak. Summit sells a kit that includes connectors and extraction picks. IIRC it is 30 or so bucks........Paul

Here is a weather pak tool:

thanks for the info on the weatherpak connectors. I'm looking specifically on the ecm end of the harness, though but I'll eventually need to know what you mentioned too.

On some of the connectors I have used the little plastic tubes that come on spray cans, like WD40 .

Very small screwdriver, pick is mainly all you should need.
On my 2800sc I was able to just use a sm. screwdriver to GENTLY bend the tangs down a bit while lightly pulling on the wires.

I bought one from Mr. Snap-On (one of the FEW things I'll get from them BTW!!!). It's a Blue-Point one, so it wasn't that much. Has like 6 pokey things on it, for taking out various connectors. Really handy, quick, and doesn't chew up the plastic of the connector.
