I was told by a friend of mine that there are some factory axles that will fit the Zimault V8 coversion install. I measures a factory axle (the long one) and got 34 inches (from the point where it enters the trammy to the point it enters the spindle). A Zimault axle measures 35 inches.

Is there some other vehical that has the lone axle 1 inch longer that the Fiero's and the short axle 1 inch shorter?

Thanks

There are no GM axles longer than the fiero stick shift passenger side axle. The axles on the Zumwalt kit were custom made, but he is no longer in business. Archie sells custom sixed axles for his LT1 kits, and will sell them seperate if he has enough in stock, although they are not cheap.

Here is some info I got from Will (I think it was him) some time ago on how to possibly use factory axles and an intermediate shaft from a Beretta to move the engine/tranny combo 2" to the left:

Use a 94-96 Grand Am shaft (12 5/8") on the left and the 83 Celebrity, 83 6000, 89-91 Sunbird or 92-96 Silhouette & Transsport shaft (18 1/4") on the right with the Beretta intermediate shaft and a homemade bracket.

Now, as far as I know, this has never been tried. This information was taken directly from the axle books. If this works, please share the information with the rest of us. I would love to move mine over to gain some water pump clearance.

check out http://moserengineering.com/ , they are out of portland, indiana and will custom make you almost any length axle you want for a reasonable price. However, they do not deal with complete CV axles so you will need to disassemble your CV assy and get the center shaft out and send it to them for measurements/spline counts. All you need to do is tell them how much longer you need the new shaft to be. Very good company to deal with.
