I forgot to gap the NGK UR5 plugs that I put into my 2.8. I think they may have been gapped a little big...does anyone remember what the gap of their NGKs were out of the box? Anyway, I am not getting any miss or anything, if they are gapped bigger than spec but not missing is there any problem? I am having a problem with hesitation and stalling and fluctuation idle at cold start and I am wondering if it is related.

Thanks Aus!

I would pull them immediately and check the gap. Even if someone had theirs arrive properly gapped, you'll never know how yours were. I would always check the gap before installing plugs, even the "pre-gapped" ones...accidents happen in production

I've installed about 1000 UR5's (or so it feels!), and virtually every single one of them came out of the box at around .035" (10 thou too small).

Pull 'em out! Only takes 20 minutes.

Actually, my record for v6 plugs is 7 minutes. I just don't have any tools where I am.

I use a combination of a 3", 6" and a 1.5 " extensions. I believe it's 6" on #1 #3 and #5. 3" on #4 and #6. 4.5" on #2. If you want can cheat and use a u-joint on #2 #4 and #6 to distance yourself from all those things that don't look "that sharp" till you are bleeding on them. Personally, I would lose my damn mind trying to use one of those where I can't see it. I'd rather bleed a little.

That is what I do on the fastback. I haven't changed the plugs in the SE yet, but it appears that there is less room there. May just be that the SE has a weatherstrip. Some people remove the decklid. If you do that, make sure you put a piece of plywood against your rear window before you remove the bolts. Many a rear window has been shattered by the hinges. I think that's what happened on my SE. I found pebbles of glass all over in it.

Hey BigFieroman I'd take them out and check them. I'm pretty sure it's .45 gap on them. I bought two or three sets of theses and checked them at the store. The auto parts guy was confused. Here's my story https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20040710-1-039825.html
