I haven't been able to find a GT air dam. I'm swapping from a bumperpad nose to a GT nose. I got the eggcrate in just the other day along with the mounting hardware. Someone told me that I NEED an air dam though. How crucial is this?

Hmmm is this just a scoop that pulls air to my radiator then? How different is it from my bumperpad? Sorry for all the questions. I'm still kinda new to this and trying to do some mods on this

*I'm assuming the air dam on my bumperpad nose won't work?

The air dam is a piece that fits under the nose to help direct air up into the radiator. Your car will run hotter without it.

I agree with the last post, except the airdam sets back farther. It sets closer to the bottom edge of the radiator, and somewhat below the bottom of the nose. It picks up the air from below the nose, and probably helps to direct the air throught the rad. instead of dropping out the bottom. On my 88 GT it sets about 8 inches ahead of the front wheels.

If I had not left my digital camera elsewhere at christmas, could have got you a quick pic.

Its a black strip of rubber a few inches wide that sticks straight down from under the front bumper to force air up thru the radiator. The pad nose really didnt need it because of the shape......GT nose goes almost straight down to the ground blocking off most air except for what goes thru the grill opening. Camaros, Corvettes and Firebirds also have the piece to keep them from overheating. (most cars today have them in some form)

Here are the pieces needed for the air dam, one of the parts is the lower rad support.

This is how they are assembled in the car.

I hope you already have the rad side deflectors, they look like triangles. Hope the pics help.

I found this piece on ebay...is this something that i'd need?
