I am going to repolish the Northstar top plate again and was wondering about clearing it so it doesn't pit again. So I guess my questions is there a high temp. clear out there that will not turn yellow?

Trying to keep this on top since there is alot of
information here for those getting ready to paint this summer.
My question though is this:
Is there a secret to painting the turn-signal bucket within the
front fascia and also probably the same for the rear refelectors?
How do you get in the little buggers without creating runs??

I am so close even though busy around here, son in Band camp
twice this summer. One in FSU and his H.S. Marching Band, Mom
and Dad moving, Business picking up , Scuba lessons, the list goes
on and on.
Fiero always takes a back seat

Just use the same urathane clear. Make sure its cleaned good so it wont fisheye.

To paint in those little nooks and crannies, just turn the air pressure down in those places, then turn it back and continue.

Yup...

Turn the air pressure down on the gun, then I also turn in the air needle all the way so I get a stream of paint only without the fanning action. It's like spraying WD-40 with the little red straw which is a very heavy amount of paint with next to nothing for air. With the air pressure turned down, you can spray into the openings without creating an air pocket where the paint just won't stick because of the air swirling, and make sure you get good lighting so you can watch your paint application. While you are spraying in there, don't spray past the point where the paint is shiny. Once you have a little shine to it, stop spraying there as you have enough paint for this coat. Let it flash and then do another coat. I usually spray 4 light coats into these voids so it doesn't run. Spray these pockets first before you spray the rest of the cover, meaning spray the pocket with a coat, then spray the rest of the cover......spray another coat into the pocket, then the rest of the cover. Don't apply 4 coats to the pocket and THEN the cover......it won't look good.

I've got a test cover in the garage that this summer I'll do a repair and paint thread on. A picture is worth a thousand words......for most things.
