well a few months back when i was at a light i had a new monte carlo SS pull up beside me and i wanted to get infront of him becaus it went to a one lane road ahead... well he wanted infront of me so it was pretty much a race. now when i left the light i left a little faster than normal but i didnt launch or anything and then i heard him nail it at which point i did too. at this point i was pulling every so slightly on him but not enough to matterabout 200feet after the light is a left hand bend and after that it goes to 1 lane. through this whole thing we were side by side(i was on the outside lane) and i had to let off so i could get behind him... are the SeriesII SC cars THAT SLOW??? i mean i knew they werent rockets but jeez my stock 86 v6 auto stayed right beside them....

Depending on the year of the Monte, the SC 3800 was an option. A lot of SS Monte's had the 3800 N/A engine and about another 1100lbs more than you.

Just to confuse people, I think they have the Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo SS, and Monte Carlo SS Supercharged. I think the SS is otherwise N/A.

Even so, I got my ass kicked by a 3800 SII N/A Grand Prix once - I jumped him like hell for 100 some feet in a launch off the line in the rain, but he caught up to me and went by me - this is in my 87'GT 5 speed. Just wait till I find him AFTER my engine swap, heh,heh,heh...

I believe that every Monte Carlo SS in history has had 2 exhaust tips. Either you missed the other one, or it was an LS, or someone put SS badges on a non-SS.

Single tip exhaust also means 3400 motor, not 3800.

the only supercharged SS's were the series III, which would be 04' or newer, the earlier years were not supercharged

The Grand Prix is the only car with the Series III and Series III supercharged. The SS Supercharged is still a Series II.

Thug,
There are no non-SS 3800 powered Monte Carlos. If it only had one exhaust tip, it was a 3400. Sorry to burst your bubble. And yes, 3400 monte carlos are slow. Any 2.8 fiero will beat them, especially off the line. I would say that a correctly running 2.8 auto would be a little faster than a monte 3400, but my mother's 2001 3800 N/A SS can beat my 88 GT 5-speed, and my car runs flawlessly.

I think a freaking 3400 Aztek walked away from me once... but I was driving my duke/auto silver car... still humiliating though to get blown out by an Aztek...

[edit]: Maybe I'll have 3.4 liters as well next time, only better...

I was in a hurry on the interstate last summer and one of those pace car graphics Monte Carlos was following me. I kept going a little faster and faster and he stayed on my rear untill about 130-140, then I pulled away.

I was at an auto show in SF a couple of months ago...the 05 Monte Carlo SS still has the Series II SC, not the newer one.

I have an 88 formula with a 5 speed. A friend has an 2001 or 2002 Monte SS and it was 3800 auto red. I pulled away from him by a car. We were seeing how well the car ran. He was shocked to see me pull on him.
