Got a lot more miles on it today & pretty well have it all butoned up. Still have a few things to do.... still need to mount the ECM, put in the trunk liner, install the inner wheel wells & antifreese.
We got out of there late today so I didn't get pics of the car with the decklid on it & pretty well ready to go.
Got the chip today & it did read on the scanner however all the readings were screwed up & the engine ran real rich. So I called Mark at Street & Performance. He told me that they had got the chip burner fixed & he would over-night a fresh chip with UPS Next Day Air Saturday Delivery, so we should have the correct chip in the morning. We put the 1st chip in for all the test driving today.
Here are some pics of the exhaust system.

Hey Archie, just curious why you guys don't use a crossover in the exhaust so the two sides can equalize. Most cars I know of that have true dual exhaust have this and I always assumed there was a good reason for it.

I have a question about those hushpuppy mufflers. My car has an exhaust setup like the Stinger did. Would those mufflers fit in a setup like that? How would you compare the sound of the two mufflers?

I'm curious why you use such a small air filter. Will it flow enough not to be a restriction?
you heard Archie - v8's don't have to worry about silly things like restrictions and heat - they have mountains of power to spare (ie lose) to those silly details that make a swap so well done.
as for his alternator bracket I kinda like it - its very utilitarian, strong, less expensive to make, and simple. K.I.S.S -- but the artist in mean screams in pain

Looks like it was a pretty busy day today at the shop & I wasn't even there.
I had to miss today because the wife had a little Heart problem that showed up in a stress test she took a week ago. The GOOD NEWS is that they did a proceedure on her today & announced that there was nothing wrong with her Heart & I brought her home just an hour ago.
They've been test driving Ales' car & took it over for an alignment. The alignment shop found some problems with the front suspension that Ales didn't know about and the car couldn't be aligned with that problem.
So right now the plan is Ales will be going to visit friends in Milwaukee for Tuesday & he'll be bcak at the shop Wednesday morning for an R&R session to get that thing just right.
So Archie's Club House was pretty busy today with Oreif, DL10 being there earlier. right now my customer from Boston, whom we are building an LS1 swap for is at the shop to take a test drive in his car.

Maybe you should follow me around for a week or so, then you can tell me where I can find the time to design something that's going to met with YOUR approval. Then after you've approved it, let's hope the next guy who isn't buying a LT1 or LS1 swap approves of what you approved. Hopefully he won't say it has too much chrome or not enough chrome.... Hopefully he won't say "hey Archie, you shoulda' done it this way" like you're doing now.
Our customers know exactly what they're getting in every aspect of their swap & they have the final approval.
I kinda think our swaps are pretty well done & they're always improving. For you to imply that the swaps are not well done because of an air cleaner is an insult & doesn't set well over here.

Nice to hear the good news about your wife Archie, hope she gets to feeling better soon. The club house was open, customers knocking on the door, sounds like you had a pretty (busy), good day. Keep up the good work. Gary

you sound as if your statement towards anyone who doesn't swap a V8 was not meant as an insult.. if that harms your ego so much then I do appologize.. but I find it laughable that you honestly used that as your reasoning for why you do what you do. I respect your work a lot - its well engineered.
saying that you don't have to worry about the air filter sitting high in the engine bay basicly overtop of the muffler is not something to worry about because a V8 just had soo much power to start with sounds silly. I would have expected an answer more along the lines of "its easier and doesn't hurt anything, if the owner wants to they can do it themselves or request a custom intake"
I know you are everything v8 - but seriously you can't tell me that your comment wasn't a "my dick is bigger than yours" directed at the non-v8 crowd .. personally I'll be helping my father put a v8 in his fiero but thought your comment was unecessary and a long winded way of saying that you don't feel like doing anything else because it works well enough as-is.
You do good work, you really don't need to be so deffensive all the time, just let the quality of your work and the happiness of customers speak for themselves.

As far as the air filter goes; I have an Archie car with the same intake elbow and filter. It pulls hard to 6200 rpm with no drop in power. All passengers hold on to the door handle and curse when I get on it, as I did in my first ride in an LT1 Fiero. I think it's quite adequate. IMO I would like to see this thread go back to the other aspects of the swap as Archie's time permits. I think we are all fortunate to have his postings to learn from and gather ideas. It take time and I imagine he is a very busy man.
Any updates on the car? Has it left for its new home yet?
From what I understand the car is in the Dallas area right about now. Apparently he's having a problem with the used 4 speed transmission I had to buy for it.
Don't really know much more than that right now.

For the concerned that are in the 'know' about Ales and Lu Lu's nightmare getting back to Mexico.....
They just arrived at 11:15 PM central time after leaving Dallas Texas 6:00PM Saturday April 2...
I have typed a very long explanation of events that occured, but have decided to not post them until Ales has had time to reflect on his adventure from V8Archies place to my place, then to Mexico. I would call it a nightmare more than an adventure.

It would be nice if someone would drop an email or make a phone call to the guy who's going to get blamed for anything that goes wrong.

Maybe like one of those charities where they arrest you and make you stay in some bar drinking beer until you can get someone to bail you out by donating $$ to the Charity.

Well we finally made it back home, I drove for 22 hours no-stop from Loyde´s house to Guadalajara, and had a few hiccups in our way back to Mexico, but we finally made it, I will post the story of our trip as soon as I get some sleep , right now I am at work and I am so, so tired that you could hardly imagine and to think that I have to recover all the work for those missing days .
Archie - I will call you tomorrow morning.
Greetings ... Ales

Hey, I had my share of blame for Ales problems. 300 foot of mud for 1.5 days. Welding on the chassis and AC tube. I will let you savor that info for now.

Why call it a "nightmare"? He may have had some problems and delays, But at least there were people all along the way to help when needed. At least they weren't stuck somewhere with no one to help them. They got to meet many PFF members and see many different sights. (300 ft of mud ?!?! ) It does sound like they have made it back home safe.
