Last month I bought the Evo Hyper Dark for my Jetta in 18 X 8 with 5 X 100 pattern so for fun I put them on my 88 Coupe to see how they fit. They are +38 offset with 235/40/18 tires. The rear was very nice however the front did stick out an inch or so. This really bums me out too because I just traded the Jetta in and now have these sweet wheels/tires in my shop that just dont look right on the 88 Fiero. Oh well i will stick to the 17 X 7 for awhile on the 88. I bet they would work well on pre 88 though? I may sell them on here sometime?

kooljess,

Where you able to get 17X7 for the front? Or are you using 18X8 (on the front)?

I called a place here in Miami that has them, but the smallest size is 18X8, I like this wheels but 17X7 or 18X7 would be best for the front.

HP Racing makes a 7 inch Evo with the proper offset, but it is a dual bolt pattern wheel and will not match the 9 in rear wheel's appearance. I ended up with an 18X7 and 18X8 matching wheel combo with different offsets front and rear from another wheel company. I'm installing them in the morning. I think they will give me the look I wanted. If I can figure out my new camera, I will try to post pics.

JG,

I installed my wheels! They fit great and look really good. To bad it's raining today or I'd drive it to work. I hope to post pics of the car soon. I will locate the HP vendor that sells the 7in Evo wheels and post the site.

Go to hpracing.com they show a pic of the 17X7 wheel there. It looks like they might make a matching wheel to the 18X9!

The picture that they show for the 17x7 wheel does not depict the true wheel. 17x7 comes with 8 holes. Why they do that is a mystery to me. I've discussed this with the people at HP Design and at the place where I got my wheels (The Speed Depot), but I may have found a solution. Stay tuned for the outcome.

Here is my final outcome since I originally started this thread. As much as I liked the HP Racing Evo Hyperdarks, I did not want the front tire to stick out too much on my 88. So, I finally ended up with Gunmetal center Falken Torque 5' wheels in 18X7 42 offset front and 18X8 35 offset rear wheels. I paired them with 225/40/18 front and 245/40/18 rear Falken ZE 512 directionals. They look really nice on my yellow GT! I would like to post a pic of my car but I have never done it. I'd appreciate any help you can provide me with this.

Thanks again,

Rick 88

Jess,

The car looks great! So they did have matching front wheels in 17X7! Do they make two different styles of Evo in that size?

KOOLJESS,
are the 17x7's you got for the front the multi-pattern wheels. if so, do you have picture of the side of the car. i was wondering what it looked like with mixed patterns. if they aren't, Where did you get them?

I would love to see a side shot like in your sig. I want to see what the staggered setup (17 and 18) looks like on the Fiero.

Zoom,

This will be my first time posting pics. I will try to have something posted this week. Any help with this will be appreciated!

Jess,

So are the front wheels a different brand than the rears? They look exactly the same. I checked out Wheel Max. Quite a selection!

The tips were custom made by WEST COAST FIEROS (Tennessee put it together for me) per my design. I will be replacing it again soon for another design. So stay tune. Thanks for the compliment.

Still waiting for my wheels to come in. I was hoping this week will be the week. Keep your fingers cross. Then I will post new pictures of how they came out. Will probably post on a new tread. Stay tuned.

Saw my wheels today but one had to be sent back. The owner of the the wheel place did not like how it came out. So I will be picking up the 3 wheels that came out SWEET tomorrow and will have to wait another 2 weeks for the fourth one. At least I'll be able to mount what I have tomorrow and take some pictures..........stay tuned.

how about a 245 tire on a 7.5" wide wheel? Would the tire bulge out too much, or would it look alright? I've been thinking of 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear, as opposed to my 205/40/17 front and 225/45/17 rear i have right now. Any help is appreciated =)

I am running 235/40/17 on my 17X7 and the sidewall is perfectly straight. I think a 245/45 on a 7.5 would be just fine. My friends run 255/40/17 on their EVOs with 17X8 and they also fit fine.

I was running with 17x7 all around with 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 in the rear and had no problem. Before I have the rims I got on now.

Before (17x7 all around)

This is what I have now: (17x7 front and 18x9 rear)

Which EVOs has 17x8??? Which rims is that??? I would have loved to have that in front.......that would have been the ideal fitment for me.

EVO as in Lancer Evolution. They have 17X8 stock and they fit a 255/40/17 with no angle in the sidewalls.

The setup for my '88 will be 17X8 with 255/40/17 and 17X9 with 275/40/17 or 18X9 with 275/35/18. I have +1" front fenders so I should be able to get away with a 17X8 +35 without the wheel sticking out.
