I've been doing some paint prep work and I have discovered that Swiffer wipes do a great job in clearing off the dust between sanding pads. What I do is to clear the dust off frequently to make my sand paper last longer and work smoother.

I am saving my tack cloth for the final wipedown before paint, but up till then, it is a towel for the heavy stuff followed by the Swiffer so I can feel any imperfections.

Anybody else used Swiffers? They are doing the job for me sho' nuff.

Does it make any difference whether or not you do the goofy dance that they show in all of their commercials?

What does the Swiffer cloth use to attract dust etc? Does it have silicone in it?

Can't say what they have in them. Silicone isn't much good for static charge, and the cloths are able to pick up by way of static charge, so I'd hazard a guess there is no silicone.

As for the dance, I'm not much of a dancer but I play a pretty mean guitar

Pretty sure those have a form of wax to pick up the dust, like a California Car Duster. I wouldnt use it myself, tack rags are .50 each. I use an air hose blower and clean paper towels, then reblow it and tack cloth.

Roger, I think my tack rag has wax in it.

I think I'll avoid the swiffer and stick with tack rags.....cheap (especially by the case) and effective.
