im getting at the point to where at times it feels as if there is no clutch and at other times, i cant move in the forward/backward motion. The slave moves about an inch, should it be more, also, is there a clutch adjustment that can be made, i will be bleeding the car somemore tomarrow after work and after a few hoursso far, there still just seems to be no clutch or very little.

Thank you

the slave rod should move an inch or an inch and a quarter.
is your clutch pedal bent? at rest, does it sit higher than the brake pedal?

An inch or so of travel is normal but I know from experience that these hydraulic clutches can feel like they come and go. I went through some similar frustration on my project car. Sometimes it was ok, Sometimes it wasn't. I checked under the carpet, around where the master cyl push rod comes into the interior and found evidence of a fluid leak. I ordered & installed a clutch master cyl rebuild kit from Advance Autoparts (about $35). There was a big difference in between the nice new pliable seals and the old hardened ones. No wonder it was leaking. funny what 20 years can do to a car huh? It works and feels much better now. I also ordered the slave rebuild kit. (should be here today)

Good luck

The problem was with or without the clutch to the floor, the car in gear it would still move forward, as if there was no clutch at all. At other times, i couldn't even put it into gear, i could only move sideways with the shifter.

well, tonight was fun . We first bleed the clutch line and believe it or not, some air in our first try but that was all we got. Next, we started by attempting to get the slave cyclinder to move more then the inch it was doing. i would push down the clutch pedal and my father would put a pry bar in the slave cycylinder area and hold it open and man that really did help. We started with about an inch of the clutch pedal engaging, but once we did that, we got about 1/4 of the pedal to, i guess it just needed to be GIRKED around or something, lol. The car at this time iss on the jack stands by the way. So we tryed to really see if we made a differnece. we started the car put the clutch pedal to the floor, wheels are still turning in first gear.... Turns out we didnt win the battle yet. Next we then popped our heads down there in to have a look see near the pedals and what did we find? No leaks, but, the original pin hole for the clutch rod that Gordo was talking about was not being used, turns out the previous owner made a new hole roughly a quarter inch more towards the front of the car, so i was never getting all the pedal i could have. We disconnected the rod but it didnt have enough length there to get to where the orignil should of been. So we decided to build a custom plate going from this guys hole to our "new" hole we made on this plate to give the medal more push and man, i tell yah, that pedal now is the hardest thing to push in the world, lol. BUt we then turned the key to the ride, pushed down the clutch and long and behold.................the wheels stop turning. Thats what we wanted, but now i just have to deal with the hardest clutch to push in the world :P I really wish i had some picture to post for you guys and for anyone who runs across a simular problem, the plate we made was really custom work, good thing we have a cnc machine shop

Gordo: how have you been, i havent chatted with you in awhile

Thanks for the help guys

Thanks for asking. I've been pretty good. My car is almost ready for the road. Just a couple more loose ends to tie up and a set of tires too. I will probably wait till spring to get the plates on it though. That will give me something to look forward to all winter.

I'd be interested to see a couple pics of what you found up around your clutch master. It's hard to imagine from the description.

we didnt really do anything with the clutch master, but for some reason, i think thats the culprit of the mess the fiero was in this past week, not the slave cyclinder like some would think by the description.

what we did, was made a plate the is about an 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1/4. We drilled a 1/2 hole in about the center of it for where the pin should have been connecting the master cyclinder to the clutch pedal. We then made the measurment for the hole that somone put in it before us that shortened up the clutch pedals travel. We tried making the master cyclinder connect to the clutch peddal without pushing the clutch pedal towards the cyclinder to attach them. So what we did to make it so we didnt have to move the pedal was drilled another hole, kinda below where this person had his hole which in the long run created the pedal being able to travel farther, but harder to push, that solved the problem of the clutch not engaging fully, i dont have a digitail camera or i would be taking pictures and posting for you. ill try to give u a paint description picture in a sec.
