A good trunk light is getting harder and harder to find.
The locking tab outlined in blue breaks off.
Leaving us with this.

to fix it Find a old wiper blade that uses metal flat strips for support.
cut (2) pieces about 1 1/4 inch off of one of the strips. And bend them like this

then clamp a hacksaw blade in a vice like so
and cut a slit in to the light about 1/4 to 3/8 inch deep
the cut is indicated in the red box
Insert the (2) metal pieces in to both slits you made in the light. They seem to stay there pretty good on their own but I will add a dab of glue.

Hmm... I was almost positive someone posted a different fix before. Went back and couldn't find it. Oh well, thanks for the tip!!!

the trunk light/door ajar switch develops oxidation on it.
i remove it from the car, and then scrap the contacts clean with an exacto knife.
