I've been dead for some time now and so has the drive behind this thread. I haven't received anything from Cliff for some time (months) regarding this, so I figured that I would post it to see what happens. Maybe it will get deleted/locked. Maybe my ratings bar will show up. Who knows.

This is meant to deal with stock cars. Once it is more complete, it will cover non-stock cars. If you want to add ideas to the FAQ, click here. If you want to add your car to the engine swap portion, click here

If you're looking for engine swap links, scroll down.

Whenever you see (1, 2) 1 and 2 link to seperate pieces of info. It would probably be a good idea to check both links out.

General Fiero Info
General
- Before you ask, the lever to pop your gas tank is behind the driver's seat
- The weird noise you hear for the first two seconds after you turn the key is your pump presurizing the fule lines. This is normal. If you dont know what I'm talking about, you might want to replace your pump
- To find out the year of your car check the inspection sticker (depending on your state) or the white sticker on the inside of the driver's door
- If you want to know what options are orginal to your car look under the hood, above the left wheel well, should be a sticker with a bunch of 3 character codes. Those are RPO codes. You can find out what they mean here
- If you want to decode your vin (find out when and where it was produced along with other info) click here
Technical
- Tranny Ratios
- Engine info (stock engines only)
- Dimensions (wheelbase, height, etc)
- Capacites and other misc info

What to look for when looking at/test driving a fiero

Parts
Not wanting to favor anyone, I'm just going to say this: there is a vendors list at the bottom of every page on this forum. Click it to find out where you can find your desired part(s).

Useful Links
- Tire size calculator - figure out what size tire to buy for any given rim size to keep your speedo accurate
- The Ogre's Cave - Created and maintained by PFF member theogre. Amazing source of fixes.

Safety
Fiero = fire?
- Yes, they burn but usually due to other things
- It hasn't really been an issue since '84
- You should always keep a fire extinguisher in your car, regardless of make/model
Crash Tests (5 star)
- Good Fiero safety artical
- Color crash test pictures
- More crash test pictures

Common Problems
General
- Decklid spring adjustment (1, 2)
- Tranny Seal R&R
- Fuel pump R&R
- Decklid won't stay up
- Headliner repair (1, 2)
- T-top headliner repair (need good non-sunroof headliner)

- Fix your water leaks (t-tops only)
Fixing codes
- ECM code list (check this if your check engine light is on)
- how to fix code 32
Headlights
- First Gen (84 - 86)
- Trouble shooting
- other source of parts: 82-86 Trans Am/Firebird = exact same motors/relays - if you want to keep stock and can't find parts (and don’t want to pay for Fiero Store/Rodney replacements)
- Rebuilding your motors (with lots of pics)
- Second Gen (87 - 88)
- other source of parts: 87-92 Trans Am/Firebird = exact same motors/module (I have a Fiero module in my Trams Am) - if you want to keep stock and can't find parts (and don’t want to pay for Fiero Store/Rodney replacements)

- Rebuilding your motors

Cheap/common upgrades
- Alarm and Remote Start Wire Guide
- Add keyless entry to a car that didn't come with it (1, 2)

Depending on your browser, go to file save or file save as. Either that or click the star next to it and it will be in your favorites.

I will update and change the things you guys pointed out. Those of you that shared new info/corrected my errors have +'s. Thanks for the positive feedback.

Also under places to get a 3.4L DOHC, you said 4th gen V6 Camaro/Firebird.

This is wrong, neither came with the DOHC 3.4L, they came with the pushrod, 12 valve version.

The 3.4L DOHC came in select Luminas, Monte Carlos, Grand Prixs, and Cuttys.

Other than that great info!

Hey gumert, a + to you for setting up this list. Also I would like to point out an incorrect link under the 3.4 DOHC finished products. I recently revised my website and changed the folder name for the 3.4 TDC swap.

Please change: http://dtcc.cz28.com/Fiero3.4TDC

Here's one for a 3400 that is now supercharged. It's Fierosound's swap and it's well documented. He's done a very nice job on his car.

Awesome job! I've got a few corrections for ya though:

The following belong under 3.4l pushrod V6 instead of 3.4l DOHC v6. The pushrod 3.4 is normally just referred to as the 3.4. The DOHC 3.4 may be called the "3.4 DOHC" or "3.4 TDC" (twin-dual cam), these are different names for essentially the same engine.
The 3.4 pushrod engine is found in the 4th gen V6 Camaro/Firebird.

Anywhere, here's what should be moved out from the 3.4 DOHC section to the 3.4 pushrod section:

You did an excellent job on this. I'm looking forward to seeing it evolve. For now I shall check out the rest of the links! ;-)

I'm suprised people are still hitting this thread. I figured it had died ago given the lack of posts.

I agree. There are many threads that get started on here asking questions about "where do I find info on this swap?" or "what did you use (part) to do this?"

Wow, glad this got posted in another thread, I had missed it.

While my LS1 project is slowly coming together and somewhat documented here on PFF, I will also be updating http://www.ls1swap.com
