Something that just started a couple days ago. Turn the car off, hear a buzzing noise, go to start it in the morning and the battery is dead. Found out that if I pull out a fuzz, I haven't looked to see which one it is yet (just starting pulling randomly until the buzzing stopped), it makes it better. But I don't want to have to pull a fuse everytime I get out of my car and put it back in everytime I want to go somewhere. Ideas?

Sounds like you have a stuck relay somewhere. Find out what that fuse goes to and you'll know which one it is.

That's the fuel pump staying on courtesy of a bad oil pressure sending switch/relay.

That's what I was thinking since I just put on a used relay for the fuel pump. I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pump fuse I'm pulling, a red 10. Atleast relays are cheap.

Pretty sure it will be the fuel pump that's running. Disconnect the plug on the top of the oil press sender and it will stop. Just need to replace the oil press sender and put a new fuel pump relay on also. A bad relay will cause the connector in the oil press sender to fuse because it isn't designed for full time long term operation. It's just a back up circuit.

Hi, You can check it with swapping the a/c relay right next to it--assuming you have a/c, their the same relay..hope this helps some....

it's usually the oil pressure sender, not the relay itself

the sender is saying you have oil pressure to it tells the relay to allow power to the fuel pump

this way if you have no oil pressure, you're fuel pump shuts off before you blow up your motor

If that fails....

Pull your headlight isolation relay (that's the one on the side of the front most compartment). I've seen them go bad, and cause that exact thing.

Close,

The way the system works is when the key is turned on the ECM sends a signal to the Fuel Pump Relay(FPR) for 2 seconds unless it goes to crank, then turns it off. Then it turns it on in crank. The FPR sends power to the fuel pump(FP). If the FPR fails, the oil pressure sensor(OPS) is a backup, when the OPS sees ~4PSI oil pressure it bypasses the FPR and sends power directly to the FP. This is in case the FPR fails, and can often be the explanation to hard starting, as the FP will not turn on until the OPS sees oil pressure. A faulty OPS will blow the fuel pump fuse if it shorts internaly, but not directly effect the FPR.

Sounds like it could be a relay, also you will see the simular symptoms with a fried alternator but the noise will go away when the key is turned off, and pulling the fuse will not stop battery drainage, as the alt shorts internaly.

In this case im guessing the FPR, its either buzzing, or more likely the contacts are stuck closed leaving the FP powered on at all times.
