It shouldnt be too bad heat wise if its a new cat and you leave the heat sheild on it... I know quite a few people with a similar setup.

Not sure where you are planning to get your parts from but i bought all my parts from Full Line Exhaust online.. they have that cat too... its a Subaru style cat... they want 80$ for it and the mufflers i used (bigger pipe then in your pic i think) was 20$ each.

Here is what mine looks like...

***Update***

Well I’ve been extremely busy trying to make the money I need for this swap... Finally after a few month of hard work I am able to say I am a couple dollars away from being done…. Here’s the work so far…. Pics soon to come

Dropped the cradle again, upon dropping it I noticed there was way to much rust to just skimp on this when I have come this far. So I took the cradle apart, had it sanded, primered, and painted silver…. The same silver as my engine… sticking to the poor man theme I am not installing new bushings, though now would be the time to do it. So now the cradle and lower control arms are pretty

I have the money for the computer, just waiting for a little while longer so that I can get the low mount alternator bracket (have enough) and coolant thermostat housing at the same time from the same person.

Santa is good, he’s getting me my motor mounts, and I broke my own theme about poor man! I only had to get 1 bracket, but I opted to get the bracket and the three poly motor mounts to secure this beast in the cradle.

As soon as I get the motor in the cradle I can begin intergrating the fireo harness with the GTP, even though there are only about 6 wires I need to connect (my swap is not using any stock fiero guauges)

I also bought the flywheel from a scrap yard for 35 dollars, and due to my inability to keep things together I had to shell out another 15 dollars for a knock sensor pig tail.

So here is the need list

Coolant temp gauge
Oil pressure gauge
Machine flywheel
Alt bracket
Thermostat housing
ecm
Smaller pulley
1.9 rocker arms

It’s awesome to have friends.

so here's a little back story before I get to the nitty gritty here are some teaser pics!

Heres the story on the flywheel, there is a fairly popular machine shop in town, and they have all the tools they needed to cut the flywheel, balance it to the old flexplate, and call it a day.

Well the owner’s son has a SVO that he likes to autocross, but he only has 195.75.15’s and my friend, the one with that built the motor, has a nice set of 17inch 245.45.17’s on em.

Took his rims off, threw them in the back of the lightning and gave em to the shop owners son, and made a deal. For the little amount of rubber that’s gonna be scrubbed off he would give me my flywheel for free, cut balanced, and ready to rock. Sweet another 120 bucks saved…… to the next topic of discussion…. Later after it gets resolved! MORE PICS

i guess im not understanding the whole wiring thing...if your using the 3800 fuel injectors, the 3800 PCM and 3800 everything else....why do you have to use the fuel injector wiring from the fiero? This just doesnt make sense to me and is why im not jumping into my wiring headfirst quite yet...makes sense if your using 3800 wiring, 3800 fuel injectors, 3800 PCM to use the 3800 harness and not screw with it...plz explain, im soooo confused...

sorry for the confusion

here is an explination as best as i can muster up...

I don¡¦t know if any of you are familure with a stand alone engine management system much like that of a F.A.S.T system¡K but the 38 computer will be running everything, from the o2 all the way to the TPS, so here is what I have done with my wiring harness¡K

I took all the conduit off, took all the factory electrical tape off, and took out all the wires that go to the connectors that actually connect to the computer¡K since the wiring harness I had was from a buick, the pin outs (where each wire goes to the computer) wasn¡¦t right for the 98 GTP computer¡K the one I am buying from loyd already tuned. So I took the pin out diagram and put all the wires in the right spot¡K off the top of my head I don¡¦t know all the wires that need 12v key on, 12v constant, and ground but a few of the sensors need it for those sensors I am going to use the some of the fieros 12v power and grounds seeing as they are already known key ons, and what not, and also because I would like to have fueses on most of them¡K for example, the power wires for the injectors 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 all merge into two wires¡K the fiero has two fused power wires for BANK 1 and BANK2 Injectors, that is why I am using the fiero harness! I hope this cleared it up if you come up with any more questions let me know, but I am not using the fiero harness for anything else other than the 12v¡¦s and the VSS¡K. Ill have more pics today as the engine is actually going in tonight ƒº

ok yeah i guess that kinda makes sense...but if your using the 3800 fuse block, which already has the fuel injector fuses and such, would this need to be done?

How "poor" has this swap made you so far. Mine is around 150 for car cost, 650 for another parts car and a low mileage L67 longblock/rebuild supercharger, which leaves tranny, fuel pump, axels, and all the wiring. Eventally I am going to sell my parts car, an 86se, if I get it running nice again.

here is my DIRTY 88, but the paint under the dirt isnt much better than the dirt

Well, heres whats new at my place...

put the tranny on the engine, engine on the cradel, cradel in the car... so most of the hard work is done... now its just wiring stuff.... put the wiring harness on, and placed the wires where they are going to lay. Computer is going inside the car where the stock fieros computer went and this brings me to the next point. heres what im gonna do for my 12v powers that i need its not the best but it works

C203 (clear plastic connector that plugs into the fiero's engine/computer harness has a 5 12v's

one is hot AAT, thats going to the 38's computer battery wire
Two are hot in start bulb test and run that were intedended to run the stock injectors...
all 6 injectors are being put on one power wire, i will have to double the fuse rateing but the draw on the wire is very small so it will be ok
the other wire will be used for the Mass air meter and heated 02
another wire will be used to run the ignition coils

doing this allows me to completely do with out c500, and the only wires that come from the fiero harness are the two wires for the speedo seeing as how i am not concerned with any other gauges at this time...

pics soon to come whenever i go out and buy my nic.... never ever heard of a wireless nic going bad but hey o well....

does anyone see any problems with this proposed setup??? and does anyone know what size fuse i will need for the ignition coil and for the combination mass & o2???

Why don't you install the new tach where the old OEM one is?
Don't look all that stock in the dash no more anyway, so just rip the old one out, make the hole larger an put the new one in there.

Just a thought! And keep up the good work!
