Well I do not think the place I sent my window to will be able to make windows for me. They are going to send it to a place and they said if they cannot do it I'm not going to get it done in the US. I called them and they will require 30 sets to be made before they will set up the Machine. I know I will buy two sets so I will have a spare pair but I do not know about 13 others. I will either have to buy 13 more Fieros and chop them or hope the windows will fit other chopped Fieros and get a group buy. If not I will paint the Mutt and sell it my intent was to have glass windows so if I cannot have them I will sell the car. This all seems stupid to me why as big as the US is and I can not get side windows made.

I went junking today and found this it is almost a perfect mach for my chop top window opening the only problem is it is not bent enough at the bottom to make the sharp angle to move over. I'm one determined SOB and I will not rest till I get a cure for the chop top windows. This was one day and I got really close. The next thing I plan to do is play with the door tracks and see if I can move them out to make this window fit. It is to perfect at the top to give up on and if it will work then they are cheap at the junkyard.

The rocker was originally made for a 4-door civic, that was then shortened & bonded onto an old GT rocker panel that I cut up for the project. That method worked, but the seams between fiberglass and urethane are weak - and have started to crack (pretty bad in a few places). So I had my cousin in Florida make molds of the entire parts... I need to call him to see when I can get a first part to test fit!

Nifty back window... question though.. did you paint the inside of the windows 1 1/2 inch? Like tinting to the edges arent you worried that the window glue will not stick properly to the window(tint) or in this case the paint when the car heats up and thereby risking the window falling out ? The black that is on the original windows is a metal plating that is bonded to the glass.
Just a thought that crossed my mind when i read your post.

Welcome to the frustrating world of chop top windows. Your math confuses me...you said 30 sets then you said you would get 2 sets and you need 13 more. Did the 30 refer to 30 total windows or 30 pairs. (sets)?
Also what car did that side window come from? I'd like to play around with it if I knew what car it came from.
Nice looking rear window by the way.

Don’t feel bad it is actually their math and it did me at first too. They call each glass a set so 30 sets = 15 pairs or I would say their 30 sets are actually 15 sets because it takes two sets for each car. Heck as long as I get my glass I don’t care what they call it. This next week will be a long one as I wait to get the first ever chop top Fiero glass windows in my hands. I think any one with a chop will understand.

Oh okay. 15 Pairs is not so many. Depending on which car this glass fits, I'm in for a set. Maybe two if I can work it into both my choptops. Yeah the lexan is okay for a show car, but glass is a lot nicer, especially if you want to drive the car regularly.

I really think your rockers and rear quarters are my favorite they blend with the car

any more progress this car or the 355? how about glass?
justin
I needed extra money and volunteered to work an extra 20 hrs a week for a while to recoup some cost and the cost on my windows so not much done on the cars I'm at a standstill on the Mutt waiting to get my windows. I'm also selling my house and looking for a new home so that is my excess for now. I need more garage space.
Ho Woo WEEEE; I got a call on my windows today and they are made they will drill them tonight for the hardware holes and they go in the oven tomorrow and should ship out Thursday. I just did a Toyota jump o what a feeling.

When are ya gonna get rid of that tiny, little thing and get a real engine? Just kiddin, but seriously, whats the plans for a swap?
As long as gas prices are over 2 bucks a gallon and that little thing is averaging a true over 30 MPG and runs down the HWY at 80 MPH as smooth as a babies butt and will light up the tires taking off , all with AC on high it STAYS.

I might eat my words I have been eyeing a twin turbo RX 7 motor and I keep telling myself it could work. I also like the fact I could say I have a two banger. LOL I have a few more pictures of the hood I'm working own while I wait for windows.

FWIW, The rear track can be repositioned both fore & aft, as well as out. To achieve a "straight up" rolling window, I moved my rear track back. To accomodate the curvature of the chop, I moved it outwards.
Despite what some "chop sages" :> may say, the felt covered pads attached to the outer dew wipe can be removed and repositioned. It ain't fun, but easily done.
Hope your glass works out.

Yes thanks for the info David there is a lot of room for adjustment I even found a glass out of a car in a wrecking yard that was close but just did not curve enough. It might work but you would have to make a new track and cut out part of the metal support on the door. If I could not get my deal to go through I was going to make that window work. I was also thinking you have room to move the weather striping in and out also so really if the window is just close it can be made to fit. I sure hope they get here Monday. I miss driving the old Mutt. Winter is setting in here was 49 degrees this morning I like to froze

Well I dropped by to see The Mutt before heading out of town yesterday and I was ~almost~ speechless. Mike has done a really good job on the modifications to the car, I was really impressed with the glass work especially. Nothing can change the look of a Fiero quite like a good set of wheels and a chop-top.
Sitting in the car, the unmodified seat rails did not put my head too close to the roof, but this is a sun-roof equipped car. I will have to get my seat rails lowered when I get mine done I believe since I have a solid roof.
Thanks, Will I enjoyed the visit had been a while, I am still waiting on my windows I know this sounds bad but the shipper has lost them I have been in touch with them every day and all they can tell me is they are in Texas. This could only happen to me. I have been researching the RX7 twin turbo and have been in touch with Kennedy Adapters but I might not do it because gas mileage sucks on this engine about 16 city and 24 HWY so this will be a problem have to go to some one that does not care about gas mileage. Maybe I will wait for the 5.3 from GM out of a Impala.
I think that's one of the saddest things I've seen in a long while. My jaw dropped when I saw that, I can only imagine what you felt like when you picked up that box and heard all that glass shifting aroun in that box. Man! How stupid can the shipping department be to send a package of GLASS with no foam... I just struggled last night to open a package of Henkels knives that had more packaging than that. Oooooooo I'm so mad- and that's not even my glass! Didn't they ever hear about using a bigger box and foam and peanuts? Got to be a lot cheaper to ship than new glass. OK, I'm not so mad now, moving to sad phase... I'm very disapointed that we can't see how those tinted windows would look just yet. Where does the guy who shipped them live? I'm going over to his house this Halloween and put a bag of flaming poo on his door step!
