I have a question about installing/adjusting the alternator belt on a 2.8 V6

Are these the only two bolts that hold the alternator to the engine?
My old belt decided it needed replacing yesterday, so I have to put on a new belt.
After loosening the adjustment bolt (bottom arrow) and the top (arrow) bolt, my alternator still would not move to allow me to install the belt. Am I missing something?? Is there another bolt?

Thanks....see ya' in the Dells

It should move. there is no reason for it not to move. Put a pry bar on it.

Those are the only two bolts. I've never had one stick or not want to move. Take the adjustment bolt completely out if you have to.

I would say that the top bolt is holding it. These bolts are steel and the bracket is aluminum and they do form a corrosion on them. Put lots of blaster on that top bolt.

I would agree with Don , I have one in a 87GT and a whole cradle out of a 86GT , the reason I know Don is correct is I broke the top bolt & bracket 2 days ago, due to corrosion --where the threaded end of the top bolts ends, that was on the 86GT , Pb Blaster it , torque that thing slowly if needed. The 87GT recieved alot of Blaster & TLC --it came out fine. And the Alt can move freely---its allmost off ---but it can move freely..lol.... Nice looking engine you have there btw.
