Well, after pulling the engine and cradle assembly out of my car, I have managed to get rather a lot done. I pulled the clutch and associated hardware, which had been manufactured wrong by Spec. (Don't buy their stuff... terrible customer service!!!) I took a look at the throwout bearing, and saw that it had been rubbing on the clutch disc, pushing it into the flywheel and causing my shifting to ...not work.

Here's a pic of the disc, which should *not* have that little bump in the middle. That's right, they pressed it in backwards.

Ehh. I guess I'll fix that.

I had a machinst buddy take off about 1 mm from the clutch disc itself, and about 3mm from the throwout bearing, as you can see:

Hopefully this will make things work.

I'm really looking forward to getting this all into the car... Full poly, sunbird vents, stainless fuel lines and stainless brake lines.

I absolutely love these: Solid aluminum mounts, they're the best mounts ever... Makes the back end way stiffer.

more coming!

Here's a shot of the engine mount, from West Coast Fieros:

The front and rear poly tranny mounts, from Rodney Dickman; these are *solid*. I really like 'em.

The engine, tossed back onto the cradle, with some TLC and cleaning.

I'm seriously contemplating polishing my transmission with the dremel. It needs a lot of cleaning anyhow, so... hey, why not? I'll be hauling apart the rear suspension and sandblasting it as well, and I've already hunted down a tiny bit of surface rust on the cradle and taken care of that. I'll have pics of the cleanup/new poly as soon as that's done.

The exhaust system is going to be completely re-worked, and I'll only be using one 18" section of the stock pipe, and that only if I absolutely have to.

To follow: Pics of the foglights, front/rear poly suspension, power door locks, and power mirror installs.

Some interesting plans for aspiration are in the works, I'll have pics of that fun stuff as soon as possible.

Steve

So much gunk on the tranny, I guess the axle seal has been letting loose for a while now. Cleaning should be fun. I got a line on a guy who does glass-beading, so I will be able to get the a-arms taken care of sooner rather than later. Clean and shiny! Hopefully this will be the end of oil-related seepage in my engine bay, and I can put behind me the days of degreasing it regularly.

More pics soon, involving axle seal installation, and tranny installation. Then the fuel system revamp, and how to remove a A/C system!
