A question about understanding what I'm seeing in the Service Manual. This is a section from the fuse block power distribution. Looking at the "Gauges" fuse it shows two "Ign" outputs, one for the rear window defogger and one not used.

The fuse block schematic shows the 10A "Gauges" fuse and two blocks marked "Ign". I assume these are the two take-offs shown in the first diagram. So, what are they? Can I run an additional wire to the unused one?

Thanks

both ign terminals share a common hot wire which runs through the gauge fuse ..you can run another wire for your app to the terminal but you may have to up the "gauge" fuse rate depending on power draw from your app..keep in mind that the gauge fuse gets its power from the ignition switch which in turn gets its power from the battery via a red fusible link.

Thanks, Erik. That's what I was thinking. Can you tell me anything about the connection itself? Is it a spade or bayonet or solder-on . . .

If you need a bigger fuse for your app, it would be better to tap the fuse block as described, but use an additional (in-line) fuse to protect the circuit you are adding. If you replace the OE fuse with a bigger one, you lose some protection to the OE circuit (circuit won't blow at 10 amps as intended in case of a malfunction in the gages circuit)
