You need to pull the climate control panel out to change the bulb - it's in a socket that's in the back of the right side of the panel. It uses the same bulb as the ash tray lights...

I pulled mine out for another reason and after reinstalling had no light. Sooooo I took it back out and replaced the bulb. Still no light. Now I guess that when I pulled it out the first time I must have somehow screwed up the socket. Anyone know of a source for those sockets?

I remember changing the bulb that lights up the climate controls a while back. It was no fun driving at night and not being able to read that center panel because of a burned out bulb.

Although it was quite easy to find the wire into the socket that has the bulb, it was not real obvious to me as how to get that socket out of the climate control housing. In the end I believe it was just a straightforward twist (or bayonet type) mount that holds the socket in the control housing.

It is bayonet just push lightly in and turn counter-clock wise to remove. Be careful the little ears on it can and will break very easily. Then pull the blub straight out.

You don't need to remove the Stereo at all. Remove the face plate and then remove the screws holding the HVAC in place (3 screws).
Pull the HVAC out a little and on the right side of the unit you'll see the black light socket with 2 wires going to it. Push on it just a little and turn counter clock-wise until you feel it click. Pull the socket out of the HVAC housing and then pull the bulb out. Replace it and carefully put it back in the housing and turn clock-wise until it clicks again. Then remount the HVAC and the face plate.
