Wikid_one did not use a Firebird door panel...he built custom ones inspired by the look of the firebird panel.

Mine on the other hand are firebird panels cut to size. I removed the firebird handles and used the Firebird ones. There are only two rivets holding the Fiero handle on.

I'm using all of the Firebird components on my custom panels. I've removed the Fiero hardware and replaced it with The Firebird hardware. Hard part for me was getting the location correct, but it came out pretty good. I haven't posted the pics yet, so check out Jscott's thread. I believe that both he and MrFixit have it documented.

I am going to figure out something else, I was going to use the Firebird panel but there were are 2 areas of concern with the Firebird panel (well 3) that bothered me (I am using the Firebird handle however, the Fiero one looks wrong with the dash):

1) seat belt guide - the plastic thing attached to the seat and the plastic for the speaker pod/door pocket.

2) the speaker pod/door pocket interferes with the parking brake. You would have to open the door to apply the brake.

3) the door rubs the dash in the top corner on the drivers side (does this with the Fiero panel as well).

...but that is just me

Tim

1) I don't have a problem with the seat belt guide...but then again my car doesn't have them installed.

2) I bent the parkng brake handle to clear the door pocket. It's a tight squeeze, but I can operate it with the door closed.

3) The door panel has to be reshaped in the area of the dash so as not to rub. This is true on any door panel you use with the firebird dash, (on the driver's side at least)
