Ok, I finally got around to re-installing my daytime running light kit tonight.
(because the partsguy forgot to order my parts on Tuesday… so I couldn’t put the brakes back together)

but today I had an idea about making them flush with the bumper instead of recessed.
This is the end results.

(yes I know the chrome acorn nuts look tacky, but I picked this stuff up on the way home as an after thought when I got disappointed at the parts store)

the brake line is 3/8” flared line 3.250” long
the all-thread is 10-24 about 5” long
4 nuts and some locktite and I was all set.

Nice. 20 yrs later and I'm still mad a the CHP issuing me a ticket for having my parking light on while driving the day time. My reason was simple....so that people can see you, duh!

did you do this for you and added safety or does your town now have some really wierd laws that now they will give you a ticket for not having them on?

also does the kit still allow the lamps to operate as turn signals?

Nice work Buddy , I like the chrome nuts, I`m falling behind on the newer up/grades for my cars, I really see the need now for day time running lamps on my 3800SC, people need to see it coming--I drive to fast & they tend to pull out in front of you with out looking first, and seem to have a bad case of depth perception these days--at cross way (no light) rural intersections , I blink my park lights now.

i did it cause i think it looks cool, but safety is a plus.

and yes they still work as turn signals,
the kit i think costs about 35 bucks. i got it for my birthday in May, the first one didn't work so they sent me a replacement and it works just fine.
if you're thirfty, you can do the same thing with 2 relays but the turn signal indecator lights on the dash will come on dim when you turn your normal lights on.

what is the make and model of the kit you have that works well? That soulds like a great upgrade idea for my GT. I have the clear turn signal lights coming from the fiero store as the regular ones are overpriced in new shape from reliable sources. With orange bulbs that would be very much like how dodge does their DRL + turn signal setup.

What is the kit exactly, is it just different brighter bulbs?

you use the same bulbs, the kit sends power to the bright filament when the key is on.

then when you are using the turn signal it flashes the bright filament just like your normal turn signals. (except i think they flash backwards)

if you wire it the way the instructions tell you, the normal dim filament lights up when you turn on your parking or head lights.
