Looking to purchase lambo or wing door hinge kit. Can anyone tell me which is better. Weld on or bolt on? 88GT.

At present, there are no true bolt-ons available for the Fiero. Best seems to be a modified universal or Honda DECAH hinge.

Use the search and you will find a couple of threads that discuss this topic in depth.

Street dreams has a video on this link at the top of the page--disclaimer reads about welding and fabricating involved--worth a look though:

I just noticed in one of my car magazines there's an identical kit lambo kit for $399.00. If there is a difference, it's got to be material. I put them side-by-side. Everything looks the same.

No. They're not the same.

Modified Decah Fiero kit

A VDC knock-off kit in CA

Modified Homebrew from Home Depo: I'm not sure if they're DOT approved?

For obvious reasons...A bolt-on. Annual Inspections, painting, selling, & for thieve to steal, hehe.

A weld-on if you never plan on selling your Fiero (wreaked or not), extra, extra safety, and never having to adjust it.

OK! I'll assume bolt-ons. Is there a clearance problem when opening the door?

By viewing the various threads and video of Godfather opening & closing his Fiero VDC you'll notice the clearance and by a very tall dude standing next to #011. If you're fatter than me or others or physically limited...you may have issues?

If i ever get my 2nd project GT running i will take it down to the guy here in Florida that did Curly's lambo doors and loan it to him to give him a platform to mock up the hinges for others to buy.

He did not get a chance to do this after he did Curly's cars because of time constraints.

Someone would also have to purchase the appropriate deach hinges first i suppose, to be used for the mockup, but they would obviously get them back ready to go.

I'm not so crazy about that $200 membership fee that I have to pay just to be able to buy them.
