The coolant fan or fans depending on model are controlled by the computer which sends out a ground to the fan relay, meter to see if connection is good. The computer goes by its feed from the coolant sensor so also check for proper connection. One other problem could be a bad air lock in the cooling system, the sensor doesn't read air temp very well so if there is air still in the system this could also be the cause. Dan

If it is a pink wire it most likely should only have power when the ignition is on, becarefull to give proper power to the right wires. Another thing is to make sure the right grounds are used there is a difference between chassis grounds and PCM sensor grounds. Dan

There is a rev limiter, not sure what it is on the 3100 though. There is actually two rev limiters one for in park or neutral and the other for when vehicle is in gear. Dan

Biggest problem is the Fiero uses two pin pressure sensors for the A/C and mostnewer use a three pin which uses a 5 volt reference so what I usually do is eliminate the PCM from the A/C by wiring it up using the power coming through the Fiero pressure sensor to run the A/C clutch relay. Dan

I noticed that you left the power steering pump on. What are your plans with it? I had thought of an idler pulley in place of the p/s pump, I have not gotten that far yet. let me know.

Keep a close eye on the coolant gauge one bad thing with this engine in a Fiero is air locks in the coolant. If you hear loud banging sounds like some one hitting your coolant tubes with a hammer pull over, shut off the engine and let the coolant vent to release the pressure. Dan

Congratulations, I was scared for you for a little while there regarding the wires, I have a few loose ones to tie in from my harness, did you have to notch the decklid to clear the alternator?

My install starts this week and I'm hoping and praying all of the parts on order get here by Friday particularly the axles for the transmission swap.

Is it still only reving to 4500/5000? If so do you have the 4T60E in there? I didn't read much of the thread cause I have to run to work soon. If you are using the stock Fiero tranny, the 3100 will not rev past 4500ish if the P/N switch is not hooked up and in drive. That's the fix for the few of us in the Beretta world that swapped our 4T60s for 282s. You can probably just jumper the right wires, but I don't know if anyone has done that yet to completely get rid of the P/N switch.

I'm about to put a 3100 in my Fiero. Pretty much the same reason you put yours in, it was free and it only has 30,000 on it. Came out of my Beretta and now the Retta has a 3400. Can't wait till I get this Fiero done though, it will be a nice daily driver. Just wish I still had the 4T60E to put in with it. Guess it's the 4cyl. 3 speed for me.
