I need a little help here and I am really hoping that some one on the forum might have an answer.
I'm trying to find an adapter to mount a fuel pressure gauge directly on the fuel rail on my n/a 3800.
The issue is the fuel rail was not made with a removeable fitting like the stock 2.8 rail was. All the fuel pressure
gauges I have found are 1/8 NPT thread type. Does any one know of a fitting type or a location to buy an adapter that
would allow me to mount the gauge accordingly directly on the fuel rail?

I learned real quick the 18 year old "kids" at Advance Auto and Auto Zone have no clue what schrader valves are. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

on my gauge you remove the pin from the valve then attach a 90 degree coupling which screws onto the schrader coupling minus the valve, then an adapter and then the gauge, was about 30 bucks all in all at a local plumbing/hardware store.

if you need more info let me know and I will call the local fiero doctor for the exact part numbers

If it has a schrader valve then you can unscrew the center portion with a tire inflation valve removal tool. Then a small 90* AN fitting (-2 or -4 or -6 can't remember exact one) to a 1/8 NPT adapter is used to mount the gauge.

EDIT: If you have a commercial hose supplier in your area, check them for steel AN fittings. The Royal Brass & Hose in my town has them for cheap compared to the aluminum ones at the Hot Rod store.

Does the 3800 use a cold start injector? If it does and you can get to the line, cut it and put a T there. Im doing that on 2,8 in my 87GT. I'll send you some pictures

You can also go to an AC shop and get a R12 connector. They will screw right onto the valve as is...

Upon closer inspection I think you guys might be right about the -2 AN fitting. It looks to have a small seat for a flared fitting. I think I may have gotten my answer.

Note to self; pay closer attention to "stuff"
Thanks

i picked this up off ebay

it has the same GM 3/8 fuel fittings as used on most older GM stuff
so it can go before the filter... after the filter or on the rail as i plan to do

it has enough material in it to drill and tap for 1/4 NPT for most pressure senders

oh.. and it rotates 360*

I found it doing a search for TPI

Thanks for the pics Vortex. The fitting that points straight up is what I have currently on my fuel rail. What I want to find is fuel guage that would screw directly on to that type of fitting even if its via an adapter or something. My fuel rail used those nifty GM clip-on type fuel pressure hoses rather than a sensible set of fittings and line like the stock 2.8 fuel rail used. I'll figure this out as I go along.

+ pluses for you guys.

Thanks

that whole collar rotates 360 deg so it can point in any direction
also.. any machine shop can drill and tap pipe threads for the sender
right in to that collar as it is fairly thick.
