When sold new, were not the Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires installed on the 88GT's?
These pics here are of the tires that are on a very low mile GT which are surprisingly in very good condition, but I cant seem to find any info if they were / are infact the OEM tires that came installed on the car. I thought that they were the OEM Equipment, but I cant find the info anywhere that would verify it.
I picked up a new set of rims / tires for the car, and was wondering if someone who is looking for that showroom look might be interested in something like this.
REAR TIRE:
FRONT TIRE
Thanx in advance!

Without knowing the TPC and build date of the car they appear to be the OEM tires. The reason I say this is beacuse the one picture clearly shows the factory painted wheel weight.

From everything I've read, they were in fact OEM tires. The 86&87 GT got "Eagle GT"(plus?) while the 88 got "Eagle GT+4). Neither are good tires, but original... I hope this helps, if it's got a T-Top, buy it!!!!

Build date is 06/88.
I will check the lettering on the tires, but these numbers were from a rubbing pulled from the tire that I did before I headed out the door w/ one of the kids color pencils.

I cant remember when they switched the way tires were lettered. Seems that in the early 80s it was still numbers like F 70X14
I could be wrong.
That sounds like a bias bly tire...
DEMONCHILD, Did you buy them new? If so they are either the new GTHR or GT/HR +4(or something like that), if not, they are either used or been in the warehouse for a while. I hope you got them cheap, lol. They don't last AT ALL localy (LOTS of curvy roads) or in any kind of hot weather from what I've seen and heard. GL with them!!

I just replaced the original tires on my 84 SE and they were eagle GT+4 white outlines P215 60 15 with about 50k miles and were still drivable, but had quite a bit of dry cracking. Glen

Well, that doesn't look right. The last part of the DOT should be 3 or 4 numbers.
I think you are referring to the TPC (Tire Production Code) code. The TPC is three digits. The first two digits are the week of the year the tires were produced, while the last digit is the year of production. If the build date is 6/88 I would expect to see a TPC code ranging somewhere from 018 through 158.

I write DOTs down all day at work, usually the DOT consists of 7 or 8 digits (sometimes letters mixed with numbers) then yes there is a build date, but it follows right after the DOT number. I've never a TPC code before, that I know of.
