While waiting for my clutch kit to arrive some surface rust has appeared on my flywheel. Whats the best way to clean it off? I was thinking about using some fine grit sand paper in a circular motion.

Thanks,

Fred

Wire brush will be fine, no need to be perfect as the first few times the clutch gets used will polish the surface anyway.

It's normal for steel to rust in humid conditions. The rust will just wear off with use. Even after you install your clutch, if you don't use the car for few months, it will rust again.. Just like your brake rotors.. I wouldn't worry about it...

Die grinder (air) and a brown Scotch disk. Worked well for me.

Da sander with some 180 grit will knock it off pretty good. As they said the clutch will clean it up after a couple of times being used.

Wire brush will probably work best next to sand blasting, quick too. Then you can coat with the 500 degree paint from autozone. That paint sticks to anything and gets rock hard
