Hmm wow, 1000 posts here on PFF, all in about 6 months or so I guess.
Well did some real heavy health checks on my motor. Got a scanner on it for the last week, absolutely no knock, at 12 degrees of timing.
I think that I took out a bit too much timing when I first did my setup, so I will slowly start to work some more back in. I cleaned up a small amount of vac leaks, idles smooth as could be, and I couldnt be happier about how these mounts are working, a perfect combination of stiffness and ride ability. Aside from a very slight vibration at warm idle, you dont even know there is an engine back there.
I will still try to get an ultimate picture thread up here in a while, maybe a pre paint thing as it is getting really cold here quick.
Bummed about the car being down right now due to a dead master cylinder, 2+ years of never having back brakes took its toll on the MC seals. First maintinance part I have had to buy for the whole project, so I figured I would just spoil myself and get a nice new one from the zone.
I see alot of people interested in doing or researching this swap, feel free to post specific questions here, even if I didnt do it or you dont see anything about it here doesnt mean I dont have any knowlage of it.
Enough rambling for one night!

Sorry to have to ask what may be an infantile ? but I want to make sure.
My wiring setup that came with my eng/tranny said I need to connect a wire to the C500-B1, this i supposed to be a +12, well my donor C500 harness is missing the B1, is it ok to just splice this from any +12 V? I am thinking yes
For the H02 sensor, this is supposed to be tied to the C1-C500 w/ 20 amp fuse, the c1 is not there, where can I connect this? any 20 amp fused +12v, I AM NOT SURE ON THIS
This is the first leg of my wiring, next I will tackle the c203, OH BOY
Thanks alot RUNDLC

I asume that maybe this b1 connector your refering to is the constant power distro block UNDER the c500 connector. I dont remember using it for anything other than my alternator connection, which I borrowed off the fiero anyway. In car terms, they refer to B+ as battery constant voltage, and 12+ usually as switched power that comes on with the key. All switched power for my setup was run through the 2 TBI injector power wires in the c203 connector, and maybe 2 or 3 things was connected to the B+ or constant power wire found also in the c203 connector. I asume that by HO2 you mean heated oxygen sensor, but if that is true, then you should have no buisness messing with that at all. There should technicly be no power outside of the 5+volt ecm power feed and possibly a pink wire that should be tied to one of the switched 12+ lines I mentioned above (I cant remember if I wired that or not, I just grabbed any and all pink wires and tied it to power).
C1 Dark Blue Reverse Reverse light switch power feed. Connect to gear selector switch(auto.) or reverse switch(man.) Fused 10A
thats the discrpition of the c1-c500 wire, which I am asuming I have hooked up wrong because I dont have reverse lights, I still need to look into this one. I am fairly sure that there is constant switched power here, because I think I have it grounded out and the fuse blows every time I turn the key on (I asume that is shares the turn signal fuse).

You are correct - I had the same problem of the turn signal fuse blowing. Once the reverse lights are wiring correctly they will work and the fuse won't blow.
Hey DH..I have been skulking around the forum and reading through your 3800 SC build. I plan on swapping out my turbo 3.1 for the L67 SC...I posted an "introduction" in the GFC section, basically I am not at all pleased with the drive train that I have in my 88 GT and I am looking for parts and info on the L67 swap. Plan on having me asking you all kinds of questions. Hope your project is going well and contiues to do so.

Im pretty sure I posted this, but there was a typo in my wiring diagrams Make sure you connect the reverse light feed to pin B of the tranny, not a. I had originaly wired it to A (I dont know if I published the plans like this or not) and it would pop the fuse when in p/n.
Also do not forget to jumper the C500 connector for the backup lights

OK...first question. It looks like you lifted the rear end of your car far enough off the ground to remove the engine/trans with an engine hoist...how did that work for you and what exactly did you hook the engine hoist to? I just dont know if that will work for me because my car is lowered quite a bit...the front clip will surely hit the ground before I lift the rear far enough to clear the engine. I guess I could use this as an excuse to finally put a lift in my garage...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
OH...one more thing..the L67 from an H body..are the motor/trans mounts problematic for the swap? So far I have seen several aftermarket mounting brackets and bushings that accomodate the W body L67. For all I know there is no difference between the two but they are 2 different engine compartments so...I dont know.

First of all, you might want to lift the front end of your car as the nose does dig in a bit. I have done this to my 88 coupe and my friends areo cars, all with stock suspension and I have never had much of a problem. As for a mounting point, just run a chain with HUGE washers of some kind in the strut tower mounts and lift from the center.
As far as stock engine moutns go thats entirely up to you. The transmission has fairly universal mounting areas across the different body styles they were mounted in, and there might be small advantages in choosing one body style over the next in hopes of reusing some mounts, but I dont think it is worth it to discriminate as all require modification or just a custom made peice. Everything I used for mounts was custom made from genaric dodge truck mounts that are available at autozone for dirt.

about 8 FULL tanks of gas at about 25 mpg so far, so like I asume I have put more than 80 gallons of gas in it in 3 months so thats like 2000 miles of trouble free driving and some quite severe beating on.

Rebuilding my exhaust right now, going for somthing a bit quieter, has exhaust tips, ect.
I lost 5 volts running to my map sensor about 2 or 3 miles before I took the exhaust off so I will be tracking that back, finally putting my speedo and tach wiring in, and wraping all the wires in cool wire wrap.
This should finish out most of the driving its going to do for the next 5 or 6 months. Any suggestions on how to store a fiero outside in the snow?

Hey DarkHorizon, nice build. I like the practicle idea behind it, not all of us have a thousand or 2 laying around. How much decklid clearance do you have on the top of you supercharger? I was wondering was size intercooler could be mounted for the 3800sc swap.

25MPG huh? I was getting 24 at first, then when I had the ECM reprogrammed dropped to 20 (though that was the same time as winter gas) now (summer gas I think) its back up around 22 again. This is all country and city driving, highway is 28, but still a little low for what I expected.

I doubt I would think twice about putting even a full sized intercooler on there, I know some people are forced to notch a bit of the rail in the hood, but it wouldnt hurt anything either way.
My mounts put the motor as low as anyone could, and you could also shim the rear mounting point of the cradle a bit if you REALLY want that extra bit of clearance.

bump, Just a few ?s: Do you have any diagrams or a consolidated description of what you did for motor mounts? Wiring: I assume you did the simplest job possible, how difficult was it, how long did it take, and do you have any information as to the exact wires you configured?
A general 3800S/C question - Do you need the new clutch/flywheel if you are using a transmission from the donor car? Do any of the donor cars have a 5spd or otherwise manual transmission? If not, whats the closest thing?

Wiring was a piece of cake. My first setup took about 6 hours, and more than half of it was just stripping the tape off the parts that I wanted to rewire. My second harness was done in one day, by noon, and I didnt wake up that early (so about 3-4 hours) There is plenty of wiring information in my signature, just look at the bottom of the first post.

The 3800's only came with auto transmissions, so you are stuck with an auto if you are wanting to retain a "stock" drivetrain. The fiero transmissions bolt directly to the 3800's with no modifications, you just need to machine the flywheel, and buy a heavy duty clutch, which is quite pricy. I have posts and explainations all over as to why you shouldnt really "want" to use a manual with a 3800 swap, I am sure youll find some after crawling around a bit more.

I searched around and most auto vs stick threads were just empty without any responces. Basically, I need some sort of manual shift (I select the gear). Can the autos be converted to a no clutch sequetial (f1 type, the clutch is for starting/stopping) shifter? That would be incredible...
Is wiring simpler when using the donor car trans?
sry for all hte questions, ive done alot of searching but just cant find hte absolute specifics hidden in posts
+ for the help so far, Chris

These wont break, thats for sure. The frame will parallelogram before I break any of my 1/4 angle iron.
I MIGHT post up another build thread of the car in my garage right now, been a few projects between this one and the one I am doing now. My mounts still suck though... I have not yet made a rear driver trans mount I like.

My friend forgot his camera (I was counting on him having it) when I ran my 12, so your out of luck there.
Its a general courtesy In my local street scene group not to tape any alleged "illegal" type racing done, so I dont have anything like that either.
Street racing..huh lol hey do you go to the weekend cruises in the summer? where do you go? im usually seen at toms coney island or the church on chavez near downtown and right next to the expressway for 1/4 mile drags....im the guy in the big flat 1978 flat black 4x4 silverado with skull on hood lol... i only seen one fiero at either one and the guy has a flat silver fiero 2m4 with a peterbilt semitruck diesel turbo..the thing hauls ass
