I want to put a Reverse Style Hood Scoop on my Fiero. I like the reverse style ones, like the Evo style or something close to it. I want it to be functional of course, but I don't want to buy a carbon fiber one, all the ones I have seen are carbon fiber and they want like $500 for them. I have seen some of the Fieros with the reverse style scoops and I like them. If anyone has a reverse style scoop on theirs can you tell me where you purchased it, it doesn't have to be a Evo style, it can be any reverse style scoop. Post pictures too if you have them handy. Thanks
i assume you mean for the hood (front of car) not the deck lid? well, this is also referred to as a "heat extractor" style hood. I purchased one from a guy, last name "angel". Look it up on the archieves, or i am sure some one will get the thread for you here shortly. This is (in my opinion) the most appropriate and "best" looking extractor style hood available. Plus, it's totally funcational, but at the maximum level... some trim work is required of the spare tire area, but not much. The front end is also a lot more stable.
the cost is like $170 shipped. the quality was TOP NOTCH!

Yea I mean the front of the car. I do mean the heat extractor style hood. I like this one, it comes off a 2002 WRX, it would look even better if it was a little deeper. I plan on making it flush, so it looks like it was made there. The one below is is Carbon Fiber and it costs $499, thats way too much money.

You goin for looks or heat dissipation? If you open up to your spare tire area it'll get wet when it rains.
I am going for looks and better handling. I have been told if I put a hood scoop on my hood it will allow air to flow out rather than build up and lift my front end up.

Turbo t-Bird scoops I had on my old 88 formula. Never saw anyone else do them like this.
I have a set of Turbo Bird scoops hangin on the wall next to my GT in the garage.... thinking about doing something like what you have, only swapping them left for right so the straight sides line up with the lines on the hood, seperate them a little more... and making them flush. With a slight point to them to match the front of the hood.

I don't think I could make one like Yellowstone did, me and the Fiberglass would get in a fight. I might try to buy one that someone made and is just collecting dust in their garage. Anyone? Or I will pay someone to make me one. Anyone?
sorry for the delayed reponse. on the angel hood vent, you do have to cut into the spare tire area, but that's only because this is a FUNCTIONAL vent and the bigger the opening the better. The cutting doesn't have any adverse affect. I still retained my spare tire without any issues. The curve of the opening is really why the cut is required. I seriously recommend the Angel Vent.
I like some of the other's, and i REALLY like some of the more extreme heat extractors that you will find in the aftermarket for NSX's and MR2's... you can do a search to see what else is available. I just think the Angel Vent looks nice, follows the car's "lines" and isn't too much over the top.

Thanks, Who sells the Angel Vent and how much? I have no problem cutting the spare tire thing, that just means I would have to do more work to make it look like it was suppose to be that way. Is there a Mesh for the opening available, I think it would make it look nicer and keep things out from under the hood and keep things from flying from the road onto my windshield. I like the look of it too, it just I don't think I could do the fiberglass work like Yellowstone did with his, the Angel vent wouldn't require as much fiberglass work as his did.

if you click on the thread that i posted, you will see that "the driver" makes these... here is his quote
QUOTE:
"Anyone want a vent? I just got one back from a "friend" that never paid. I've contacted two people that *said* they wanted one but they have not gotten back to me. First person to email or PM me gets it: $150 + $20 shipping - MUST be a POSTAL money order. You can email me at ImThaDriver at yahoo. Thanks, ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" "
his member name is "The Driver"
PM him and let him know you want one.
I used SMC (3m) panel adhesive. I just used this to ahere the scoop onto some tabs (cut from the material that was going to be thrown away anyway). I installed it flush, just like the thread shows. Than i used the SMC adhesive again to fill in the "seam" around the vent, and then just sanded it down flush. Than, i used evercoat lightweight body filler, sanded again and will be using evercoat finishing glaze (putty) to get the final filling and then sand it down all the way to 320 or 400 grit (this is what you need for primer).
hope this helps.

I looked at the ones on JCwhitney. Most of them are not functional. They don't have vents on them. They are just for looks. I got mine on E-bay. I just finished up my project for around 19.00. Now I have.... NO...head lights popping up. Cooler engine...air flows through. NO...pressure buildup. NO...floaty front end at high speeds. Plus I got lower front springs..1" And...good Hankook RS2 performance tires...very nice..!! All together...Wow what an all around performance difference from 20 bucks and some time...about 2 hours. I would guess my 1.4 mile times will increase as well. Why...less wind resistance = go faster at speed. The pressure build up at the end of the 1/4 mile was very evident...with the head lights popping up. So...I would guess I would see a faster time, next time. I'll post some pics...nothing crazy fancy...just looks OK and very functional...!!!! These pics are before I put the tires and spring on. The badges, Formula sticker, Vents, licence plate holder, and wheels are all the same charcoal matalic paint...looks pretty good.

I know its a bit much, but i would like something like this on my car. sans the carbon fiber due to cost and the without the foremost asymmetric duct thing on the front. its the center vent that i like, but the side ones look BA. (this picture makes it look very rice)

Here is the one I have BEEN TRYING TO GET PRIMED!!!!! for some time now. To do it you need a Mustang Cobra hood to cut the scoops out of. Luckily for me I work as an auto tech and came across adamaged Cobra hood!!
