I found a nice set if 18" rims that I plan on buying for my GT and I want to know what size tire I have to get so I don't mess with the speedometer. I would like the rear tires to be wider than the front. the rims are 18X7.5. Thanks

Yea, I was just being lazy, I didn't feel like messing with it. But I eventually got bored and did anyways, I got 245/40/18 does that sound right? I thought about putting those all the way around.

Depends on the year of car your going to put them on and the back spacing on the new wheel? The 88's have staggered wheel widths from front to rear so the wider tires will stick out more on the front of that year if you go that wide. Many on here have done all sizes and last time I searched I found tons of info and pics.

I have 18x7.5 with 235/40/18 tires that fit perfect in the back and about 3/4" overhang in the front.

I hope this helps.

That seems off to me. For an 85 it should be a 215/60-14. There is usually a sticker on the drivers door (lower half) that lists what the car had from the factory. 86-88 had all kinds of sizes but the 84-85 were pretty much only the one for the 14" wheels.

antinull.com, that particular model you've mentioned originally came with 195-70R14 tires all around.

The rims were 14" x 6."

Do you have coilovers? I have a stock suspension and I want to keep it that way.

Do you have any issues with rubbing front or rear? In sharp turns?

I think I might run a 225/40/18 tire. Because my car has been lowered 2 inches all the way around. That tire isn't much wider than the stock one so I shouldn't have any rubbing problems.

I am running 18X8 all the way around. There 38 mm offset. People say that anything larger than 245 will not fit in the rear with out coilovers. Im running intrax lowering springs all the way around with monroe sensetrac shocks and struts. I just put in 1/2 inch rodney dickman lowering balljoints in the front to lower it some more. I have 225/40/18 in front and 255/40/18 in back.
