Engine oil contains pressure additives, anti-foam agents, detergents and the like. What lubrication properties do you feel are superior with synchromesh fluid?

GM issued a TSB to use Synchromesh in all the manual trannies in Fieros including those originally filled with motor oil. Unless you're experiencing cold-weather shifting problems or are changing the fluid you can leave the original motor oil in those trannies so filled. All of the Getrags came with Synchromesh IIRC. Synchromesh does increase shifting quality.

I have one more question about the fluid i found 2 gm bulitens one is for the isuzu trans which i don't have the other is for what the gm bulliten calls a hm282 and the hm290 and mitchell calls a muncie 76mm for the grand am, is that the same as the fiero trans and therefore would use the syncrmesh fluid?
REDLINE MTL REALLY SMOOTHS OUT THE SHIFT AT ANY TEMPERATURE IN THE GETRAG 5- SPEED.
QUIT YELLING AT ME!!
My friend really likes regular motor oil... But he has killed 5 transmissions in the last 1.5 years. He still swears the one time he used syncromesh it shifted poorly.

I had already just filled my trans with 5w-30 so i decided to see how it ran with it and so far it seems to shift fine so unless i have any issues i think that i'm going to leave it for now. thanks fo the info Ant
