Does anyone have a copy or photo of an REAL 88 manual page or drawing for the 88 headlights module and motor. I'm trying to help another member with a rewire job on his 86 and the module does not want to work like the 88 firebird module does.
Would like to see if the pin outs and inputs are the same.
If you have a manual could you take a pic of the page if you have one?

Thanks..

Does this look right? I think it's for an 88 but not sure.

That looks like the basic function.

Thanks spark1, would give you another + if I could...

Could be. I've never seen the 88Fiero one before only the firebird one.

Interesting that they say the dimmer switch input is used for the up signal instead of the light switch. Wonder if that is true why that is...

Here it is, scanned straight from the '88 GM/Helm manual:

I can e-mail you a higher resolution version if you need it, but I think this solves the "dimmer switch" mystery.

Thanks, that is what I figured the connection was from.
Unfortunately this does not solve the problem I'm helping with.
It appears there are a lot of bad modules out there. I have one and another owner that rewired his 86 has two that do not work.
I just wanted to verify that the pinout of the module was indeed the same between the firebird and the Fiero.
Knew it had to be but wanted to be positive...

Hey thanks for the schematics guys, I am the "other guy" with two modules that do not work.
My car is an 85 not an 86, in this situation no matter.

I have spoken to another fellow that has reference to modules and GM model numbers and he states per the data at his disposal that the module that I require for my 16507923 &24 motors was used only on 87-89 Firebirds.

I now believe the two modules I have are good, but good for a 91-98 model Firebird. It is my theory, as has been stated by others, that these newer modules measure the motor current at different levels, thus will not work with my 1988 motors.

I will know more when another module arrives. I am starting a "module" collection of sorts.

The Fiero headlight module was also used on the 97-04 vette, 87-89 firebird, 86-94 sunbird, and 86-89 buick skyhawk. It's p/n 16523917 and used to be listed at the ACDelco site but it's no longer there.
Looks like another dealer part only.

edit: The 16507923 & 16507924 modules are still at the ACDelco site. They are listed for 87-92 Trans Ams and Firebirds. (Not sure if that is correct).

I received a module said to be taken from an 86 vette, 16521291 on the little green tag, and it works with my 1987 headlight motors, after reversing the signal wires (to achieve proper position in sync with headlight dash switch position)

Hey it works!
